do you ever wonder why we started saying certain things that seem to make little sense? I thought of two today cutting off ones nose to spite their face (has anyone ever actually been that mad at their face?) and they were a miserable failure (has anyone ever been a joyful failure?) are there any others that have always made you go

Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. I am not even sure if anyone in my family has thrown out bath water. That is what drains are for.

Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. I am not even sure if anyone in my family has thrown out bath water. That is what drains are for. Uh, a newborn baby is bathed in a special tub that does not have a drain.

Uh, a newborn baby is bathed in a special tub that does not have a drain. Yes, but you still don't throw it out, you usually just dump it down the sink or tub. I get where the saying comes from, but it just sounds dumb this day and time.
