Topic: Anyone Willing To Admit They will Vote for Romney

Here is what he said to a behind-closed-doors meeting with Republican funders who each paid a minimum of $50,000 to hear him:

“There are 47% of the country who will vote for the president no matter what.” And this 47% were people, he added, “who believe they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to take care of them, who believe they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it. It is not my job to worry about these people.” (We know that’s what Romney did say because he was secretly filmed saying it).

This was the same Romney whose campaign propaganda had previously proclaimed that he wanted “to help all Americans struggling in the Obama economy.”

In a New York Times opinion piece David Brooks argues the case for saying that Romney is running “a desperately inept presidential campaign… There’s no way the country will trust the Republican Party to reform the welfare state if that party doesn’t have a basic commitment to provide a safety net for those who suffer for no fault of their own… As a description of America today, Romney’s (47%) comment is a country-club fantasy. It’s what self-satisfied millionaires say to each other. It reinforces every negative view people have about Romney.”

it puzzles me that he is mormon actually

'"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" ( John 15:13 ). '

part of the mormon belief system (As I understand it anyhow) is a call to service and helping and caring about others

it surprises me to hear a mormon so nonchalantly writing groups of people off as 'victims' merely for needing help,,,,,

I'm not voting for either of them.

I'm boycotting the corrupt system...
I'm not going to give my consent!

msharmony... part of ALL Christian religions is a call to service
and helping and caring about others. Bush pulled the "God" card too..they all do. None of them really care.

This system is an epic fail!!!

the mormon church seems to actually IMPLEMENT the call to service more actively

most christian religions seem to stop at tithing, as far as what they enforce and implement by way of 'service'

I respect those who have a respect of God, if their actions reflect that

but where I live, mormons are a very charitable people and I dont understand a mormon with views like Romney

maybe he is more of a vultarian than a mormon

If you look into it and don't buy into the MSM propaganda you would learn it cuts taxes 20% for everyone and closes loopholes for the rich.

The only thing the government owes anyone is :FREEDOM and the right to persue happyness , based on our judeo christian background. I challenge you to read the "original" Mayflower Pact" which our schools FAIL to teach!!! Not a free hand out for eveything or a cell phone. If you need it get a second job!!!!! if there is no jobs, change presidents!!

to me, doesn't matter where he said it, or how much who paid to hear it. if it came from his mouth, it's in his heart. the issue is what he meant by what he said

“There are 47% of the country who will vote for the president no matter what.” And this 47% were people, he added, “who believe they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to take care of them, who believe they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it. This was the same Romney whose campaign propaganda had previously proclaimed that he wanted “to help all Americans struggling in the Obama economy.”

i'm sure anyone elected president will want to help all americans, not just the ones who voted for him. who he actually helps will be seen by all americans

In a New York Times opinion piece David Brooks argues the case for saying that Romney is running “a desperately inept presidential campaign… There’s no way the country will trust the Republican Party to reform the welfare state if that party doesn’t have a basic commitment to provide a safety net for those who suffer for no fault of their own… As a description of America today, Romney’s (47%) comment is a country-club fantasy. david brooks is entitled to his opinion

it's not his job to worry about these people. true, he's not in a position to

IMHO i think the content of the statement rests more on the first sentence,“There are 47% of the country who will vote for the president no matter what.” then he elaborated on that sentence with “who believe they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to take care of them, who believe they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it. It is not my job to worry about these people.”

the subject is the 47% die hard voters backing the president no matter what. anything said to these voters will not change their vote, so worrying about how to change their vote is not his job. the worry should be over the 53% potential voters who could win him the election. if elected, he could pull a nanny nanny boo boo and forget about the 47%, or he could lead 100% of the country. obama has the same choice. help only the percentage of voters who voted for him, or lead the entire country

The US Constitution is the Law of the Land!
The Compact still demanded Allegiance to the King of England!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayflower_Compact

The Mayflower was originally bound for the mouth of the Hudson River, in land granted in a patent from the Crown to the London Virginia Company. The decision was made instead to land farther north, in what is now Massachusetts. This inspired some of the "strangers" (colonists who were not members of the congregation of religious dissenters leading the expedition) to proclaim that since the settlement would not be made in the agreed-upon Virginia territory, they "would use their own liberty; for none had power to command them...."[5] To prevent this, many of the other colonists decided to establish a government. The Mayflower Compact was based simultaneously upon a majoritarian model (even though the signers were not in the majority) and the settlers' allegiance to the king. It was in essence a social contract in which the settlers consented to follow the compact's rules and regulations for the sake of survival

Great Document, but not the Law of the Land!

I dont think ANYONE Has seen romneys returns,,, if they have, Id be delighted for them to point me to the source where I Can see for myself

as to my point, I wasnt concerned about his personal giving (which Im not sure will be what is claimed here), my point was that he sees people who need help as 'victims' and feeling 'entitled'

does he view those who benefit from whatever his charity is as also feeling 'entitled'?

i don't understand how you get that from what he said. the people he is talking about, he said who believe not i believe. i think it's more his speculation of what he thinks they believe, rather than their true beliefs. of those 47% there could be a percentage that actually believe they are victims and are entitled
