Recently, while I was working in the flower beds in the front yard, my neighbors stopped to chat as they returned home from walking their dog. During our friendly conversation, I asked their little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day.

Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, “If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?” She replied… “I’d give food and houses to all the homeless people.”

Her parents beamed with pride!

“Wow…what a worthy goal!” I said. “But you don’t have to wait until you’re President to do that!” I told her.

“What do you mean?” she replied.

So I told her, “You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and trim my hedge, and I’ll pay you $50. Then you can go over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out and give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house.”

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, “Why doesn’t the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?”

I said, “Welcome to the Republican Party.” Her parents aren’t speaking to me anymore.

(Not mine, ripped from another page)

My liberal neighbors said they would have responded with the truth but, they had to get to the welfare office, go pick up their new Escalade and reload their o'BAMBY phone.

cute joke,, the best fantasies usually are funny

,,,we sure seem to have alot of homeless people holding up signs for work,, and a whole lot of other non homeless people passing them by everyday in disgust....not to mention a mere 50 probably would go towards a priority of FOOOD before shelter, which costs considerably more and usually requires a credit history, work record, and bank account,,,

if only all these logical republicans were really going out and offering jobs for these homeless people to earn enough to eat,, let alone have a home,,

that would be a nice reality,,,

Missions arent down the block from EVERYWHERE, and they dont have unlimited space,,many are no safer than the street,,,

but I do appreciate that they try to help rather than just belittle and avoid,,,

That prior statement misses the whole point of the post...are you really that blind ms?

Both parties fail in doing anything but limiting our rights, inflating our money, killing the economy and jobs thru new laws and regulation, and pointing fingers at the other guy....all while campaigning for re-election!

the point of the post, from what I inferred, was that republicans feel people should work for a living, and dems want to give other peoples 'hard earned' money away, the same tired old talking point

a talking point that ignores the reailty of the availability of jobs and the job search process,,,,and the true correlation, or non correlation, between how 'hard' someone has worked and how well they are able to support themself,,,

Ok, but in truth, a person who does activly canvas for work/food/money, rather than standing on a corner with a sign, will do much better, and be treated better, even if some do turn them away.

An attempt at keeping yourself fairly presentable helps (shows a little pride in the face of adiversity), and I raised my kids not to talk to strangers who approach as most do.....that's reasonably instilled in todays character.

I help at food banks, donate (not often money, because I'm not far from that position myself due to health and cirrcumstance) do charity drives and community projects, have known a lot of panhandlers, and bums in my day, and while I take pity and feel for those of real need, will pass by many who choose the streets to solicit...a person seeking food in a dumpster will get my attention and usually a meal at least.

It is our legislators who create the bulk of the problem, and compound it by not knowing how to fix their mistakes, so they steal from others to compound it further with entitlements wrapped in regulation, creating liars and thieves or career moochers, while those in real need suffer for it.

There was an article in my local newspaper several years ago about the homeless people in my city. It said that about 74% of them wanted to be homeless. They talked to one guy that had everything, a home ,wife children and he just up and left them to be homeless. I have no respect for people like that.

I have little respect for people who choose to abandon their families either,,,

Many abandon their families on paper these days while still living in the home so they can draw benefits....it's not uncommon.

we need to figestht terrorism at home

you say what does this have to do with terrorism

the republican and democratic parties have done more to destroy our constitution and take away our freedom than any other two groups on the planet

if we could combine the best of both and call it the demican party that would be a good thing

doubt if that could happen would end up with repubicats the worst of the two

vote third party and don't be fooled into wasting your vote voting for less of two evils and wasting your vote

send the two terrrorist groups a message vote third party

your candidate may not win, but if enough start doing this maybe we can get some demicans sooner than later

but hey what do i know

although we often simplifiy it in terms of democrat/republican, its really a matter of the haves and the have nots,,,,

those who have, go through great lengths to keep as much for themself as they can, and I dont mean merely dollars

power is money and money is power, and for a while now those with the power/money, have tried desperately to promote the status quo and cling to their own money/power

by brainwashing the culture into believing money equals worth, and turning people loose on each other to fight over who is most 'worthy',,while they continue to fight for the right to 'work' to keep the rich and powerful rich and powerful

briliance really,, but all empires fall

the english language is full of words which are misused and overused,, true

it is usually counterproductive though, when people lump GROUPS together by their political labe or race or creed or religion, thus ignoring the unique individuals which make up the group,,,,
