I'm pretty sure if there really was an effective boycott of Papa Johhn's or any other company, the company would wise up and change its ways long before it actually had to close. Especially when all they had to do was raise their prices. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
They won't close, remember, any press is good press. It's much ado about nothing.
Does anyone really want desperate uninsured people making their pizza?

most of the pizza folks are already uninsured,,lol,, but no

I dont want disgruntled employees preparing my food when I have the choice,,
I agree most are un insured already but Obama is trying to address it. Its something that should be considered in this debate.

Do we as a society wish our food to be prepared by unhealthy people?

IS it worth the extra nickle to insure them? I say yes and for gods sake let them work full time.

I go to a family business for my pizza it tastes better and I feel better knowing mom dad grandma and grand kids are doing the food prep.

I am weird like that though, my kids had friends that worked the fast food places and the stories I have heard...... one should really consider if the drive through is worth a chance at Hep c.
ever asked yourself why it tastes better?pitchfork

News flash to Papa John’s CEO John Schnatter: Obamacare isn’t the only thing costing your business money.

The pizza chain head has made his views on the Affordable Care Act clear in recent months, claiming the new health care law will cost his business about $5 to $8 million per year. To compensate Schnatter's said he will likely raise pizza prices and cut back some workers’ hours so he doesn’t have to insure them.

Caleb Melby of Forbes has graciously done the math on Obamacare’s cost to Papa John’s and according to his analysis, to cover the cost of Obamacare, the pizza chain would have to raise prices by 3.4 to 4.6 cents per pie -- way less than the 11 to 14 cents Schnatter claims he needs.

And there are other changes the chain could make to save some money, Melby notes, like not giving away 2 million pizzas for free at a cost of between $24 and $32 million to the company, for example. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/13/papa-johns-obamacare_n_2123207.html

I concur!

I like their double bacon 6 cheese pizza.drool Mmmmmmm.

I had that last time. Not as good as the Hawaiian BBQ Chicken pizza. I will need to get that soon especially since all these other guys are gonna try to boycott them.

Also they are not losing money giving away pizzas.... its part of their NFL promo that makes them lots of money. Simple business, they wouldn't do it if it wasn't profitable.

All the other major restaurant chains are doing the same...hiring and going to part time workers.
Exactly, Papa John's is just following suit of what the other major chains (not all food) have been doing for years. Wal-Mart does the exact same thing and has been doing so for years. This was well before Obamacare was even hatched. So why doesn't their BS get exposed to the media? I think that Obamacare is a bad idea, but it seems that big companies are using it as a "chicken little" excuse for some things. The sky is falling!.................lol

I gotta agree whole heartedly with you on that Peccy.

Heck no your life may depend on not eating pizza made by desperate uninsured poor people.

Do the mom and pop places.

We have a place in Cleveland about 40 miles from me called 'Little Italy and you will get the best pizza any were made by old world Italians in an old old Italian community.

About a half dozen mom and pop pizza joints in a ten mile area.

My favorite has been in business for 75 years and is multi generational.

Somehow the same old blue haired lady works the cash register as when I was in High school and man is she a mean old bird. laugh

The mom & pop stores or small local chains (I'm looking at you, Amato's) have better pizza anyway.

laugh laugh laugh All these non business owners who do not understand running a business coming out and attacking business owners who understand running a business is the same thing as republican politicians lacking science degrees attacking scientists who have science degrees.

I know business owners who also agree that the claims are bogus,,,

and then there is the issue of 'math' that really doesnt require immense knowledge of running a business,,,

If your running a strip club then that owner doesn't have much to worry about.

Insured, uninsured, all folks who work handling food have to get checked to get a food handlers permit.
Having insurance doesn't insure your server, cook or dishwasher doesn't have aids and is spitting in your meal.

I own a business, true it's only a sole proprietorship with me and a few computers and a degree, yet I am one. I think you need to look in the mirror when you talk of non-business owners laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

Sure, boycott a company and jeopardise the jobs of those who don't have a say in its policy. That makes sense.

I have never heard of a fast food worker getting a "food handlers permit" and what diseases are checked for before its granted.laugh

I would think a poor worker who had no insurance and was looking forward to getting it, instead had his hours cut and still no insurance may get a little disgruntled.

Me I wont take the chance and will not go to Papa Johns.

Hepatitis A is a contagious disease. It travels in feces, and can spread from person to person, or can be contracted from food or water. In cases of contaminated food, it is usually the person preparing the food who contaminates it.

So, utilising some form of distorted logic, you're saying that food workers without health insurance are likely to transmit Hep A?

Its not distorted at all. Do you wish some desperate uninsured 30 hour a week pizza maker preparing your pizza?

I don't. I would rather pay the nickle than the medical costs involved on the cure.

its a no- brainer.
DUh
