Is this self~moderation gotten so far out of hand that you can't start a simple thread in the right forum, without the fear that it will be deleted upon your return?

I can understand the fact that some might get confused as to what forum things need top be posted in. Like the newbies, or those that just forget to read what heading that they are under BEFORE they have already started their thread. Once they notice their mistake they have asked that it be deleted due to the fact that they posted in the wrong forum.

Am I the only one that thinks this self~moderation is being used as a revenge thing? Or being used for personal reasons?

I would not be suprised if this is deleted rather quickly.

Michael, I am sorry that your hi thread was deleted. I have never had the chance to read it. I haven't been on all afternoon.

I honestly think that before you give this kind of power to people you need to think real hard at what you may lose in the process. And ask yourself~~~Is handing over this much power worth losing all of the members of this site?

MIKE, VC, PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS PERSONALLY. IT WAS NOT MEANT AS AN ATTACK.

Just one person's opinion.

Nope...I will not vote to delete this topic. To delete is to have control or power over someone other than yourself. Why delete anyway? Why not just move it to the approriate heading? This is getting way out of hand. I, for one..hate it.

Fine, I read Michael's thread and replied to it. It was a simple, loving greeting from both Michael and Bonny to their friends here. I can't imagine why anyone would think there was any reason to delete it.

Thank you for the replies guys. I was just starting to wonder if it was just me.

I honestly wonder how many will stay if this does not get under control.

This might be one of the fastest ways to destroy a site.

This is way too much power to give to people that hold grudges.

Im not sure if it has anything to do with anyone for revenge. I do know, that there a couple of people on this site that would probably use it that way but Im not sure if they have revenge on those particular people I think you were referring to...

it's not about being safe...it's about making it easier to navigate. better organization. yes, it takes time to get used to...

but i LIKE knowing where certain types of threads should be found.

and i LIKE not having fifty million of each.

and just because someone votes to delete...who cares? it takes 70% to delete...all that shows is that system is working. when one is voted for deletion, and is NOT removed...that shows the system is working properly.

I agree with you Fine. I have seen topics get nominated for the most stupidest reasons. And some that should of never been nominatated at all.

I was amazed, no, correction GOB SMACKED as I read through some of the post in this forum ( not so far back either) try Saturday, where people have started a thread just to say "Hi" or that they were back from holiday and the little "mundane" thngs that should not be in the general discussion if everyone was sticking to the rules.......................NOT so it seems. I have always been outspoken and will continue to be so when it is justified ( subtly). I stated earlier that it was a case of this being one rule for some and another for others, but as of now I will not be so lady-like I will say this is down right two faced behaviour and very childish indeed. The self moderation button has only been the equivelant of placing a magnum in the hands of a 5 year old and then telling the child not to pull the trigger. I left before and did not want to come back......Now I'm leaving for good !!!!! Good luck to all who are seeking love and companionships, and for the friends I made here, you will always be in my heart

I remain, BonnyMiss flowerforyou

part of the problem is that each thread is only up for deletion-nomination for a very short period of time.

so...some things that SHOULD be deleted sneak through by virtue of having nobody read them TO delete them.

lulu, that is so true. This thread was in the section to moderate for LESS than 3 minutes.

Now how sad is that?

But, the way I see it. It is so much simpler to just "not read it", don't ya think? I mean, that is what I do. If it doesn't interest me, I leave. Others will too if they do not like it. Or, they will post a reply.
I hate to see you leave like this bonnymiss. It is a darn shame.

i think that they need to extend the moderation period, make it so that the thread-author can NOT see if they've been nominated (as to help prevent sore feelings), and add an option to MOVE said thread.
