What were you like in the past? (Compared to today?)...Did your life take a lot of twists and turns along the way?.. Do you think that friends you knew in grammar school or high school would be surprised at who you are today? And surprised at how your life turned-out? Just curious...

I think I was a lot less confident in myself as a child or teenager, and also in my twenties. Even in my thirties, perhaps. I finally reached a point where I stopped worrying so much about what other people think and decided to just be myself.

As for what the reaction of my old schoolmates might be, well I've already had a bit of that. Way back when I went to my 10-year class reunion (I must be old, because that was a long time ago) I'd already changed enough in my attitudes and behavior that some people said they were surprised, in a good way. And I've changed even more in the ~mumble~ years since then.

Hard headed and wild. Yes my life took all sorts of twists and turns and my old friends would be surprised.

I was a bit on the bad side in high school. Today, under certain circumstances, I can be still be ornery. But folks that new me then would be suprised at how I am the same. Respectable, old crone. LOL

I must have been born with a mission. Except for looks I'm almost identical to what I was in school.

When I was about 21, my older sister (by 2 years) and I
went to visit old neighbors we had not seen in 10 years.

Betty (the mother) opened the door and screamed (my
sister's name here!) you come right in this door and
bring your lttle friend.

Physically, child to woman, everything else is about
the same, anyone would still know me once we talked :-)
Probably by the dry humor.
Waaaay too precocious, usually I scare people.
Go figure.

The same, but a lot less shy. laugh
I used to hide behind my mother and only converse in head shakes...up and down for yes and back and forth for no.
When I got a bit older, my vocabulary increased with shoulder shrugs and eye rolls.
Then in high school, I took drama and public speaking. Even though scared to death, I knew I had to do something. It worked. Gave me confidence to actually open my mouth and talk.
now I don't shut up. *smile*
But essentially at the core...still the same.

I was always nice quiet girl. My school mates thought I was a loner.
Most classmates were surprised at how outgoing I am. I seen many of them at my 25 High school reunion. I lived in a town of about only 5000 pop. back then. Everyone said I looked great. Most of them looked Old. Without name tags, I would not have know some.laugh

As a child growing up, I was a "daddy's" girl all the way through High school. My Dad was over protective of me and gave me most anything that was in his power. After a few years of Working and going to College, and dating I got real outgoing. I got married and had twists and turns in life and made it through it all with God's help. When I got older around 39 I grew to have more patience.

Never made one friend all through school; never went to any school more than one year. Basically the same all though college. Countless twists . turns and crashes on the highways of Life.
Had one 'dream'; followed it for as long as possible as circumstances allowed. Everyone that I was close to or knew serving together ended up dead. Somehow, I didn't. Very strange. Same with marriage but at least I have 2 grown young adults who are doing well. Wish that I could say the same; c'est la vie...

Personality wise I'm not much different, but I did not become a universally renound prima ballerina afterall. Most of my old school friends would be shocked to learn it....shhh, no need to upset them.

I have always been a bit hard headed, opinionated and also quite fair, loving, sucker for a cute guy - none of that has changed

I think my HS friends would find me much the same: spirited and michieveous but not unkind lazy or cruel

loving laughter

and a damm good sweatin' workout (whatever the sport)

were I to finally after 40 yrs to see my HS friends they would know me instantly and say - that audacious girl has not changed a bit

I was the classic Cali surfer girl, used to ditch school so could go surfing, after school, before school all summer long at the beach, my friends and I were known at school as the girls who were always laughing, constantly making jokes and just goofing. But I was also super shy, I used to hate to talk out loud in class and if I knew I had to give a report I would miss that class (it's a wonder I graduated but did )I'm still that way, shy, just like to blend in with the crowd.

I was more naive, happier, healthier, less stressed, more interested in learning for learning sake, less aware of time passing,,,

I think friends would be surprised that Im not a 'professional' of some sort by this point, I was always ahead in school and graduated at 16, I was considered top of the class, not nerdy but smart and lots of potential,,,,

I really took it for granted and let too much time pass without acting upon the potential,,,,
