I would never....and I seriously mean never consider that to be anything but birth control...cause you will never get laid in crocs or sweats. No... we both took them off before going to bed and getting it on. ![]() ![]() |

For some reason I don't get why people get lip and nose piercings and tattoos and then walk around expecting to be treated as 'normal.' They obviously are waving their freak flags for all to see, and for getting a job, I'm sorry, they don't present a good first impression. Loaf n' jug's written policy is no tattoos showing and yet I find even the managers at the store in this town are displaying tattoos. I don't get it. I don't get why people consider those with piercings or tattoos as being bad. I get you may not like what they look like, but does it mean they can't do jobs well? Of course not. Allow me to state the obvious......I work in a casino. Most of our money clients are older. They got most of the money. Any business is in it for money....you want a dude with Half a dozen pieces of metal sticking out of their face?.....hit a tattoo parlour You put that same skanky looking guy/gal in front of an older person with different values.....then expect to see that money walk out the door. This is America. If you wanna be a freak.....go for it. If you hope to be wealthy...you better damned well pander to the people who got money. Hint.....they ain't impressed with people with face piercings, dreadlocks, sagging pants or the fact that most kids can't figure out how to wear a baseball cap. Professionalism.....look it up No need to be condescending. Yes, I do get that people judge others by their looks. Unfortunately, that's a big part of life for some. Does that mean someone with tattoos can't do the job just as well as someone without? Of course not. It's sad that people who judge others on looks affect business like that. |

It's sad that people who judge others on looks affect business like that. um... no what is sad is people who crave so much attention that they pierce their noses and lips and tattoo their bodies and display them and expect to be treated like a professional. Yep, they can probably do the job, if they can find someone to hire them for something besides picking up the garbage or digging ditches or singing in a rock band. There is a place for that particular style, but its not in the professional world. You won't see very many politicians or lawyers, or doctors going around looking like that. I'm an old fuddy duddy and I'm proud of it. I prefer the look of innocence in a young girl and tattoos and piercings destroy that look of pristine innocence that I find beautiful in people. You are beautiful the way you are. You don't need to decorate yourself like a Christmas tree. |

not sure I totally get the question
but I am pretty much the same everywhere I go whether I am at work or not, pretty normal with a few quirks that make me somewhat unique but I don;t see that as flying a freak flag I do cuss outside of work some but not around my kids so the cussing side my coworkers really don't get to see, I guess I try to keep a reasonable lid on it anyway...lol |

No one said you had to like it. But, it doesn't make them wrong for getting tattoos or piercings. And you chose the most extreme to show a picture of. Many who have tattoos or piercings don't look really out of place compared to those who don't have any. But, if you're that judgmental that it bothers you that much.. there's nothing that can be said to change your mind. |

But, if you're that judgmental that it bothers you that much.. there's nothing that can be said to change your mind. How other people dress and how they adorn their bodies doesn't really bother me. Granted, its interesting, and its their life and their business. I sometimes wonder what kind of statement they are trying to make, and they do make certain impressions. If the impression they make and the reactions they get from people are what they want, then they have certainly succeeded. They must get something from it, and I'm guessing attention is what they are aiming for. But if they are looking for a job that involves dealing with sales or the public, and I'm doing the hiring, they just dropped to the bottom of the list if they have that kind of look. Now if they are members of a rock band, and good at their music they probably look great. My niece and nephew have tattoos and they do them them self. She is quite a good artist. I am a person who is anti-commitment and a tattoo can't be removed very easy and I tend to change my mind often so getting one would not be an option unless it was one I could wash off. LOL. I do have pierced ears, but I did that because I wanted to wear earrings. |

Wow that is a strong statement and unfortunate I along with many men and women have tattoo's and i love them! they are a form of self expression and in most cases beautiful and tasteful body art. As for getting a job...im sorry but what does having tattoo's or piercings got to do with how well a person performs that job? Freak flag? wow!...so everyone with tattoo's and or piercings are freaks? Never judge a book by it's cover...i strongly believe you should get to know the person/s before passing judgement |

Freak flag? wow!...so everyone with tattoo's and or piercings are freaks? Never judge a book by it's cover...i strongly believe you should get to know the person/s before passing judgement If you want to talk about 'strong statements' try wearing a nose ring and pierce your tongue. Tattoos are strong statements. Plus they are basically permanent. As for the rule "never judge a book by it's cover" dream on. It takes three seconds for a person to sum you up and make their assessment from the first second they lay eyes on you. To imagine that they (and you) don't do it is fooling yourself. As for a person's ability to perform their job, all I have to say is they have to be hired first. How you present yourself is your advertisement. Does it say "hire me?" Does it show respect? Or does it say "I don't care what anyone else thinks, I'm going to express myself however I want." Yes, sure you can call it "self expression." Big deal, and good luck with that. ..i strongly believe you should get to know the person/s before passing judgement
Good idea, but first impressions are lasting. No one has time to "get to know" everyone they see. Its all about image. What image are you presenting to the world and why? What is your statement about yourself? This is what you need to keep in mind. |

I myself have always been the kind of person who didn't care what other people think, and I am pretty much the same today. But I know that the reason your lawyer advises you to wear a suit and dress nice going into the courtroom is because it is a sign of respect.
You may not respect the court or the judge, but your fate does lie in his hands. He is going to judge you the moment he lays eyes on you and if you are sloppy, dirty, or insisting on "expressing yourself" with wild hair, displaying your colors, your tattoos, etc. is going to sum you up real fast. You may have made your point and expressed your individually and that may please the hell out of you, but you probably will get a stiffer fine or sentence from that judge. It is the same in public. People will make judgments from first impressions. Sure you can live down a bad first impression, but its not going to be easy. |

If a young person really wants to stand out in the crowd today, all they have to do is learn some manners, treat people with respect, tip the waitress, and dress like they are applying for a job.
Those young people are extremely rare if they even exist at all. Today, people are so desperate to fit in to the culture of being 'different' or so occupied with expressing their individuality that its not really anything special at all. They are just doing what everyone else is doing. |
