She has a 103 degree temp. She is 15. I am scared and don't know what to do. I don't want her to miss her first day of school. What should I do?

She got in the tub earlier this afternoon, but the fever is spiking again. I don't know if I should call the ER or not.
She's sleeping now but maybe I should wake her up.

No I won't send her if it's still high. I just feel bad for her and for the fact that she'll miss her first day. This has never happened before. I felt so overwhelmed with getting her and my 6 year old son ready for tomorrow and now this. I'm ready to crawl under a rock.

Did you ever get er to the ER? Try giving her some tylenol 2 tabs every 4 hours. A fever should never be ignored especially if there is a sore throat involved or swollen glands. These signs are usually indicative of an infection, actually fever is a sign of infection it's self. Your child is at the age where auto-immune diseases begin to emerge, I'd strongly suggest taking her to the doc. I have crohn's disease and my parents never did anything about it and I didnt' get diagnosed untill afew months ago. Please do ur kid a favor and get them in ASAP!

Thanks so much Bay.

I just took her temp while she sleeps and it is down to 99.

I think I can sleep now and not worry to much till the morning.

Thanks everybody so much. I haven't been this scared since my son was a baby.

so how is she doing this morning? With the way my kids are and their health i would have gone straight to the ER. I have already almost lost 2 of my 3 and i'd be scared to death i'd lose them.

I'm sorry I missed this last night. My son is prone to fevers as well, it's tough, they feel so awful. There were some good suggestions there, that's really about all you can do. I'd definitely get her to the doctor though, antibiotics will clear things up quickly. My son has missed his first day of school before, it's tough but you do what you have to do. The good thing is, she probably won't miss much!

Good luck and if you need an ear, give me a holler.

Suz
