Why not thank him by not letting the wolves tear him to pieces?

There are many things to thank him for, his service, his moral regard, his belief that the American people have a right to know what this administration is doing in our name....

but because it reveals the moral destruction this administration and the war machine has continued to escalate on our great nation.... I can see your side.... poor POTUS, the leader of the nation.... gets blamed for everything... even immoral wars... not his fault he's arming Mexican cartels, Black Water mercenaries and Al Qaeda rebels who could care less about human life other than their own!

slaphead

He is NOT the leader of your nation. He is the chief executive officer of the Corporation called the USA.

THE PEOPLE, also called "the public" is the leader of your great Nation! (so hurry up and LEAD LOL)

A certain amount of gov't is a logical necessity. Anarchy and chaos are not a feasible solution, neither is the oligarchy we are under now. Both are extremes.

The gov'ts job is to protect and defend the peoples rights, the Constitution, and defense of the nation, not destroy those rights, subvert our Constitution, or wage wars of aggression!

Are you using the standard scale for the Nobel Prize?

Manning actually did some good for the world.

Hussein did nothing.

I am sure all the soldiers who have been killed by "Insider" attacks that keep happening over there disagree. This fueled their fire, not to mention put A LOT of us assets at risk and scared off potential assets because they are afraid to be discovered and not to mention nearly blew the OBL raid.

Yea, this twirp is a real F'ing hero all right. All because he was having a gender crisis and hated the militaries stance on gays in the military!

Manning told Lamo he passed the Baghdad helicopter attack ("Collateral murder") video to WikiLeaks shortly after this incident, in February 2010. In April, just as WikiLeaks published the video, Manning sent an e-mail to his master sergeant, Paul Adkins, saying he was suffering from gender dysphoria and attaching a photograph of himself dressed as a woman. Captain Steven Lim, Manning's commander, said he first saw the e-mail after Manning's arrest – when information about hormone replacement therapy was found in his room in Baghdad – and learned that Manning had been calling himself Breanna. Manning told Lamo that his commander had found out about the gender issue before his arrest, after looking at his medical files at the beginning of May. He said he had set up Twitter and YouTube accounts in Breanna's name to give her a digital presence, writing in the Lamo chat: "i wouldn't mind going to prison for the rest of my life, or being executed so much, if it wasn't for the possibility of having pictures of me ... plastered all over the world press ... as [a] boy ... the CPU is not made for this motherboard ..."

On April 30, he posted on Facebook that he was utterly lost, and over the next few days that "Bradley Manning is not a piece of equipment," that he was "beyond frustrated," and "livid" after being "lectured by ex-boyfriend despite months of relationship ambiguity ..." On May 7, he seemed to spiral out of control. According to army witnesses, he was found curled into a fetal position in a storage cupboard, with a knife at his feet, and had cut the words "I want" into a vinyl chair. A few hours later he had an altercation with a female intelligence analyst, Specialist Jihrleah Showman, during which he punched her in the face. The brigade psychiatrist recommended a discharge, referring to an "occupational problem and adjustment disorder." His master sergeant removed the bolt from his weapon, and he was sent to work in the supply office, though at this point his security clearance remained in place. He was demoted from Specialist to Private First Class just three days before his arrest on May 27.

I would like to add that there is something called a chain of command.
If Manning was not satisfied with a response from an immediate superior, then Manning could have continued up the chain of command.

Also, whistle-blowers can contact members of Congress to report wrong-doing by elements in the federal government.

Manning didn't do either of those things.

And those charges he has admitted to

Again, his statement was that he felt it had to get out, and his superiors were all ignoring or denying the issue.

Like Snowden, he then went to the press.

It seems our gov't is not interested in having it's underwear shown to their employers....us!

There are many kinds of heroes

He did what he thought was right at great personal sacrifice.

The rest I added above.

If our gov't was not corrupt there would be no Mannings or Snowdens

Ya can't unscrew a pregnant broad.

Manning will pay for all he has done that was illegal.

Now, will the guilty pay for all the illegal stuff he has exposed?

Uh, the last time I checked, what Manning "exposed" was not illegal.
Has anyone in Congress called for an investigation into what Manning "exposed"?

There are many Congressmen and Senators who would have gone after this.
