With or without religion, good people will do good things and bad people will do bad things. But for good people to do bad things, that usually needs religion.

Religion can be a scapegoat for all mans issues but they would still exist even if religion were not known as the issue is one of mans genuine nature the mixture of good and bad, healthy and unhealthy and mental illness and its adverse affects too!!

,,,adding to that

religion is like hypnosis, it cant make anyone do something they don't WANT to do,,,,

people have inner wants and desires, they have inhibitions as well, based in social, religious, or legal expectations, as well as good old conscience

would be no different without 'religion'

most 'religious' ideas existed before 'religion', or no one would have known to write them in a book....lol

Religion is often used to justify a person's words or deeds.

"Do whatever you want, then find 'scripture' that can be 'interpreted' to support that action, and you're still 'going to heaven'."

No,no,nooo TB! Look at it from a Christian point of view,
the Bible sets out rules and guidelines for its followers.
Anyone who truly is trying to become a righteous Christian,
does his/ or her damndest to not lie, commit adultry,
steal, judge others, gossip etc.

Its not religion itself that's bad. If everyone had
the power to not sin, and become truly righteous without
sinning, this would be a much better world for it.

The hypocrites who say they are Christian, but aren't
following God's word, are just half baked. Christianity
and the Bible are great. Ped priests and slimy ministers?
Only humans who have fallen from grace.

It's literally a matter of faith. Also, all these ill or injured people in the world, turn to it for comfort, as a form of reassurance. There's some really ill people who are in a lot of pain, who may feel it gives them something to believe in. And we all need hope at some point. I have christian friends, and I don't think any less of them for believing in something we can't see physically. I also have faith in it, but more in a spiritual sense, because I wasn't born into a religious family.

I agree, Some people do evil things to others in the name of their God.
