...do you know that whenever you see the symbol of a star with a
circle aroud it.. This is a satanic symbol. The star represents God, and
the circle around the star is symbolicly trying to surround God and
trerefore trap it. (Safety tip from Rambill.)

Gotta call Buuuuuuuulllshiiiiiit on that one. The symbol of the
pentagram (five pointed star) and the pentacle (encircled pentagram)
means nothing of what you speak. DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!!! These symbols,
BOTH of them, have been used by virtually every faith in existence in
the past AND the present. While it has different meaning to different
faiths it is not "THE" satanic symbol. Remember, I said "by EVERY
faith". Yes, the Satanic Church of America, once led by the now passed
Anton LeVey did use the symbol. However, the modification used by them
is the upside down pentagram in the circle. My faith uses the symbol in
a number of ways and dates back to the earliest of religious times
(celts and druids) AND we don't believe in the existence of Satan or
hell so their goes the Satanic theory.
I truly enjoy reading the interesting posts that people put in here. I
have studied many religions and even majored in Religious Sociology in
college - and graduated. The only posts that will ever inflame me are
the posts made out of ignorance. The only way to overcome ignorance is
with knowledge. If you are going to post please have the courage and
forethrightness to educate yourself before posting and offending people
of the faith(s) you may be speaking about. Thank you!!!!

Hey! Even the Swastika has been miss represented. That symbol is used
all over the world as a symbol of good luck and prosperity. It took a
group of Nazi's to deface a sacred symbol like that. So Rambill. You
need to do more reading to understand other symbols.

So why not call all christains Nazi's. After all Hitler was a Natzi and
Hated Jews. So what's the difference?

Rambill, I have practiced Wicca for almost 17 years now. I KNOW what the
symbol means for us and could care less what it means for Satanists or
anyone else that uses this symbol. As a matter of fact you will find the
Pentacle, your star inside a circle, on mosques,on temples,on places of
worship of virtually EVERY religion known to human kind through history.
As I said before, this symbol existed long before the concept of Satan
came about with the advent of Christianity. I have studied it very in
depth without any "spin" on it given to me by any bible or any religious
dictates. To each their own opinion, and yours is respected, disagreed
with, but respected Ram. All those of us that use this symbol daily ask
is the same respect in return. You don't have to agree - only respect.
Please research the symbol and you will be rather surprised what you
find in where it came from and just how widely used it is today. Peace
to you Rambill. Blessed be )0(

Ghost, you truly know how to start threads that make SOME people think.
Thank you for being you and for your opinions.

pool, you seem to think i havent done my homework.... WRONG. My studies
indicate that most organised religions are way off track. some more than
others of course. There are of course various levels of truths in each
of them. Take the cross for example. It is more likely that Jesus was
executed on a pole than a cross. Aklso to you cross toters... Think
about this... Would Jesus really want to see another cross? If he was
Hung, would you carruy around a noose???? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

it.

poolfool, why do you go on a religious thread and then badger
everyone??? confused. I LIKE THE PART here you try to turn things around
and paint me as the bad guy. Typical liberal/communist tactic. aint
workin. keep flappin you are just being a fool.
Why dont you try to politely explain your beliefs, would be most
interested in them. Not familiar with wiccan beliefs.

Well, that's what the JW's believe. Sorry my only source about the pole
came from them.

Maybe their all Greek. LOL

So why did they change it from the pole to the cross?
I guess who want's to carry a pole cain around their neck. LOL

its a (possible) mis translation. The jurys still out on that one but I
am leaning towards the post theory myself. Would have to speak old
hebrew to know for sure. Another example of the translation issue.
Doesent really matter which way you feel about it. It is of course why
he died not how that is the real key.

i always thought that the cross was a symbol of how he died and what he
died for so i do think he would like to see the way that he was honored
if he knew the reason and i understand your point about the translation
part rambil. it is only my understanding but i thought they crucified
people on a cross as a symbol that they did wrong in the eyes of the
church and that it is easier to cricify from a cross rather than a pole,
that would be pretty hard(although not impossible).

after all the scripture and various translations greek and hebrew lost
scroles and what the movies have taught us i can say for sure you dont
want it. so if someone trys to brand you with any number dont chance it
run away. its my understanding that haveing the mark is the only sin
God cannot forgive you for. and when its time to seperate the goats and
the sheep, the wheat and the chafe, worthy and the unworthy, make sure
your not covering up that stupid number they told you that you had to
have because sociaty required it. stand on what you know is right
allbeit not popular.

Rambill.

I think I found a posible reason for the pole theory.

Image of Jesus' crucifixion may be wrong, says study

PARIS (AFP) - The image of the crucifixion, one of the most powerful
emblems of Christianity, may be quite erroneous, according to a study
which says there is no evidence to prove Jesus was crucified in this
manner.
Around the world, in churches, on the walls of Christian homes, on
crucifixes worn as pendants, in innumerable books, paintings and movies,
Jesus Christ is seen nailed to the cross by his hands and feet, with his
head upwards and arms outstretched.
But a paper published by Britain's prestigious Royal Society of Medicine
(RSM) says this image has never been substantiated in fact.
Christ could have been crucified in any one of many ways, all of which
would have affected the causes of his death, it says.
"The evidence available demonstrates that people were crucified in
different postures and affixed to crosses using a variety of means,"
said one of the authors, Piers Mitchell of Imperial College London.
"Victims were not necessarily positioned head up and nailed through the
feet from front to back, as is the imagery in Christian churches."
The authors do not express any doubt on the act of Jesus' crucifixion
itself.
But they note that the few eyewitness descriptions available today of
crucifixions in the 1st century AD show the Romans had a broad and cruel
imagination.
Their crucifixion methods probably evolved over time and depended on the
social status of the victim and on the crime he allegedly committed,
says the paper in April's issue of the RSM journal.
The cross could be erected "in any one of a range of orientations", with
the victim sometimes head-up, sometimes head-down or in different
postures.
Sometimes he was nailed to the cross by his genitals, sometimes the
hands and feet were attached to the side of the cross and not the front,
or affixed with cords rather than nails.
"If crucified head-up, the victim's weight may also have been supported
on a small seat. This was believed to prolong the time it took a man to
die," says the study, co-authored by Matthew Masien, also of Imperial
College London's medicine faculty.
Crucifixion was widely practised by the Romans to punish criminals and
rebels, but if the empire ever circulated instructions for the soldiers
who carried out the gruesome task, none has survived today.
Nor is there any detailed account of the method of Jesus' crucifixion in
the four Gospels of the Bible (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) which are
believed to be near contemporary accounts of the life of Christ.
And only one piece of archaeological evidence has ever been found about
a crucifixion, mainly because crucified people were not formally buried
but left on a rubbish dump to be eaten by wild dogs and hyenas, say
Masien and Mitchell.
This case entails a young Jewish man, whose inscription on an ossuary,
found near Giv'at ha-Mivtar in Israel, suggests his name was probably
Yehonanan ben Hagkol.
The clue to his demise comes from an 11.5-centimetre (4.8-inch) iron
nail that had been hammered through one of his heels, attaching it to
the side of the cross. But there are no signs of any nail holes in the
bones of the wrist or the forearm.
Over the past 150 years, there have been at least 10 books and studies
to try to understand the physical causes of Jesus' death, and one US
attempt, in 2005, even featured a "humane re-enactment" in which
volunteers were attached to a cross in safe and temporary way, using
gloves and belts.
These explorations have yielded a wide range of hypotheses, from heart
failure and pulmonary embolism to asphyxia and shock induced by falling
blood pressure.
Excruciating pain endured over the six hours between crucifixion and
death, loss of blood, dehydration and the weight of the body on the
lungs are cited as contributing factors.
But, the study says, these efforts have all been prejudiced by the
automatic assumption, derived from religious images, that Jesus was
crucified head-up.
Given the uncertainty as to exactly how he was crucified, the answer may
only ever come if some new archaeological evidence or piece of writing
emerges from the shadows of the past, it says.
