I found this website that says I can learn all the steps to becoming famous, wealthy successful or have anything I want.

And it only costs $29.00 a month.

The thought comes to mind that if their claims are true, I would only need to pay for one month if its that easy. LOL

I'll pass on that. All these same secrets are in the book "The law of Attraction" for about ten bucks.

********* here is their sales pitch: *********

Discover The Long Lost Incredible Mind Power Secrets:

Prosperity and Happiness No Matter the Conditions

"The government of a nation is a direct mirror, or reflection, of those who live in it. Therefore, it is not accurate to refer to “those in power,” as you are wont to do, for they can only exist as a result of the choices of each and every one of you. Such a mindset is an indication that you have given away your power! THE UNIVERSE WILL RESPOND TO YOU INDIVIDUALLY, NO MATTER WHAT THE OTHERS ARE DOING. Even if there are policemen on every corner, you may wave cheerfully to them, or rant and rave and cause yourself upset.

You cannot control the actions of another! You can, however, control how the universe, and the people in it, respond to you. We tell you that YOU CAN FIND HAPPINESS AND PROSPERITY NO MATTER THE CONDITIONS! (big wave of love here, and complete certainty)

Once you begin to focus exclusively on well–being, you will find your life changing for the better in magical ways.

Not only that, but when you change your focus exclusively to well–being, you influence the environment around you. You become a lighthouse, a beacon shining your light into the world. The way to truly change the world for the better is by setting an example. You have no idea how powerful your light can be! One person broadcasting a powerful signal of well–being is more powerful than a million disconnected ones. Believe it or not, one person shining his or her light may influence the million and do so much more quickly than you can imagine."

Hard work, patience, belief in yourself and the ability to realise that you're not in the right all of the time. Sometimes we need a heads up and advice. Chase your dreams, but don't chase a nightmare! That was what my Grandad told me and it's true, as i'm starting to reap the benefits of his advice now. Anyone that sells a guide to success, I would be wary of? If they have such a brilliant money making scheme, he would keep it to himself, instead of letting all and sundry in on the secret? If I had a secret like that, the only people to benefit from it would be my kids and grandkids!

Well said Lars, so true..."Selling" an empty promise is an age old gimmick bought into by gullible, often desperate, people...In most cases, a crime without punishment....

The reason they call it "The Secret" is because it's a little tricky and not everyone knows how it works or how to use it.

The information itself is out there very cheap and even free in books.
My question to people who sell these systems is, if your secret works and you know how to use it, you should already be wealthy and you would not need to be selling this information.

"If I had a secret like that, the only people to benefit from it would be my kids and grandkids!"

larsson71: That sounds extremely selfish to me.

Why is it selfish? All I want is to provide for my family and make sure that their financial futures are secure. If that's selfish to you? Then fine, but it's normal to me.

Wanting to provide for your family is okay. However, if you know a method that could help others to have a prosperous life as well, without it being a threat to your income, but you anxiously want to keep it secret so only you and your family can benefit from it, that's extremely selfish and greedy.
Let's say there's a diamond mine in your town. You found it, no one else knows of it. There's enough diamonds in there to feed the entire village for a many generations to come. So plenty to share with ppl in the village. Yet you keep it to yourself so only you and your kids can benefit from it and live in wealth while everyone else struggles to even pay their rent and health bills.
Very Scroogy ... Very selfish and very much based on fear.

When is a Roofing company, a diamond mine? I do roofs, conservatories, loft conversions, etc! I'm keeping that in my family, cos i've worked hard to build that up. So hows that selfish? You tell me? Crystal, I like you, but if I want to build a future for my son and grandkids, then that's my business and kindly keep your nose out, ok?

It's not as specific as a roofing company. It's a general thing, the details are not filled in. So you for instance could build a great roofing company with this general info, someone else could start a great book-keeping company with it, another would start writing and selling books with the help of this info.
So it's general, it's not about sharing with the rest of the world how to do what you do. It's NOT about creating competition and threats to your own income. It's a method to create money with what you're good at. And that's different for every person.
So if more ppl would and could apply that method, there'd be more happy and prosperous ppl, not more roofing companies. And the funny thing is, it would probably help you: more ppl with money --> more maintenance and building work. You're company would benefit from that. So you'd get more money because of it, meaning you need that one book-keeper --> he also gets more money out of it. etc etc etc
It's a perpetual thing and everyone would benefit from other's success, not suffer because of it.

A few books I have read which I think help in people success.
How to win friends and Influence people by Dale Carnagie.
The art of war by Tsun Tsu
The book of five rings by Miamoto Musashi.
All of which touch on certain ways of being successful and have been on the book shelves of a lot of movers and shakers over the years.

During the 80s those books where considered to be essentials for the entrepreneur. My pop kept those on his shelves as well. I was thinking of putting Megatrends on the list cause that was always laying around as well. But there was one thing in Carngie's book that has stuck with me for a lifetime and that was. "Do as they do and you will be as they are." laugh

It is selfish to keep information to yourself if it could benefit others, and it does not cost you anything to refer people to that information.

I have a little book that sounds very selfish on the cover, but it is full of amazing information that is not selfish at all. It is called "How to get people to do what you want."

Other books I like off hand are:

"The science of getting rich." (Wattles)
"The Law of Attraction." (Hicks)
"Unlimited Power." (Anthony Robbins)
"Creative Visualization" (Gwane)
"Ask and it is Given." (Hicks)

There are tons others and they all hit on the same so called "secret."

The reason it is called "secret" is because there is a certain number of people who will toss this information in the trash because the don't understand it or don't know quite how to use it.

Why would I want to read a book when i'm doing ok, in real life now? Jeanniebean, I did 22 years working for other people and just got sick of it. I brought my son up alone for 14 years and had to do whatever I had, workwise to make sure my kid never went without. He's just turned 22 and works in London, as he wants to find his own way, before he takes over the reins of my company. I've worked hard for what I have and you criticise me for it? Get real and chill out, eh? Wasn't you out in the rain and snow, breaking your back to pay the bills, etc, was it?

It's about sharing or not sharing information that could benefit others, and does not cost you anything to refer people to that information.
Has nothing to do whatsoever with you raising a child on your own and having a job/company.
There's maybe ppl here that raised 4 kids on their own and had an underpaid job. But that's NOT the point. I don't get why you get so defensive, as no one is attacking, judging, criticizing, commenting or whatever what you're talking about.
Point is about sharing from the heart with others what doesn't cost you anything at all.

Crystal, I don't have to explain myself to anyone!! These forums are meant to be for expressing yourself and I always do. If people don't like what I do, then theres a saying where I come from? Tough s**t! I'm all the man i'll ever be and I ain't changing for anyone. If you have a problem with that, then you're a whited sepulchre? A hypocrite! It's a saturday night and i'm chilling out with my mates. Maybe you should do the same?

I am not criticizing you. It does not matter to me if you read any of these books. I posted them there for anyone who reads this thread.

They contain the "secrets to success" that everyone is talking about, which is not really a secret. You don't have the secret and you don't want it and that is your choice.

I thought your remark sounded selfish and you asked me "why is it selfish" and I told you. If you didn't want to know why I thought your remark was selfish, why did you ask?

Don't take it so personal. I thought your remark sounded selfish.

You said... "If I had a secret like that, the only people to benefit from it would be my kids and grandkids."

If that isn't selfish, then what exactly did you mean by the remark???

I'm all ears.
