Generally people want a person who wants them and are compatible to them, someone who's gonna be real, someone who's gonna connect on a few levels (Listen, share, compare, and keep them in mind fairly) and some manner of "life with the other person to be functional". Now that's not a gender thing in so much as it's a matter of general stuff people want.

You're confusing women with girls. It's sort of easy to considering that "Adult" here seems to follow 3 basic criteria:
1) You have money and can show it somehow
2) You're legal
3) You have sex (and in some cases can reproduce)

Now this ignores mentality, your heart, growth of being, how honorable you are as a being, understanding of yourself and others, knowing how things work, and understanding that everyone is an individual. (So you're not getting humanity out of that in so much as you're getting "Really old kids looking for money and sex to prove themselves".) So there's a skewed perception that's primal and materialistic about men and women and we don't emphasize what they actually are... People who have advanced past the state of "boy" and "girl" to the heightened state of "Woman" and "Man". Given the short list above you can see why people have problems with discerning between the undeveloped and the developed states for people. (Largely cuz they're skewed and people just accept it.)

This is also why we have the problem of people deciding on other people based on a wallet or a potential "lifestyle upgrade".

No, my friend woman don't want everything, I was kinda joking with that although at times seems so. Now in a simpler form what Ph0nyx was trying to explain was that as males you and I have similar needs correct? But as individuals we have are own personal needs, no one is the same. Same thing applies with woman, accept they make it a bit more complicated (not to sound sexist or anything). there's is no real easy way to answer you question because people aren't created with a default personality.

Now, for sure things that a lady would look for is confidence: someone cool, calm, collective. Someone who has similar traits of their own father, by that I mean some kind of personality, maturity (ect).
Also, someone who isn't cowardice, they want someone that can hold their own.

I mean these are just a few, but here is what you gatta remember. the answer the the perfect- or a "match" is in you. because realistically, she needs to like you for you. maybe you're different compared to most guys, now it's not a bad thing we all are. But you shouldn't go around acting like a superman if that just not your personality.

Here's a tip: If you like a girl start off getting to know her as friends.
Friend Zone is a good playing ground for getting to know what she likes and dislikes. Also a safe place, and if she's not any kind of interested in you, you will be able to tell even without asking. And if she not start over find someone new that's how it works.
Keep in mind that, even if it come to rejection try to remain friends, sometimes that can spark a relationship, and if not, you will learn more from having a female friend.

Next, after getting to know her for sometime invite her out for dinner or whatever floats her boat. If she eventually agrees then the answer is obvious.

What a woman wants and what a girl thinks she wants are two separate things. Maturity will eventually bring the girl around to the correct line of thinking.

Personally I look for the following in a man:

Loyalty, Honesty, Integrity, Confidence, Respect

If he has all those qualities it is a good start. Then we all know there needs to be chemistry between the two.

Not all women look for the material things! To me it's the little things thake make the biggest impact.
