Do you prefer a person who is upfront about being a gold-digger OR one who is Mr./Miss Independent and always takes the lead? Opposite ends of the spectrum
I ask this question because I have seen Male gigolos as well as Mr. Independent who has to be the one in control. I'll share my answer if you'll share yours. If you can't choose, Feel free to give an opinion, I welcome them all.

Mmmm I think gold-diggering is a naturally occurring phenomenon,
human nature, if you will, to attempt to improve one's standard
of living in a way that speeds up the usual life-long venture
to do so.

So I guess I would appreciate more the honesty.

I don't tend to get along with people that are too materialistic, especially where they place materialism ahead of social conscience.
At the same time, I find many people whom claim they are "strongly independent" are in fact simply narcissists, which amounts to the same problem. They put their egos and reactionary whimsy ahead of any social conscience.

I don't think there's a simple rule that makes a good person. What I respect is any earnest work in progress, given if they don't have any particularly bad or dangerous routine behaviour.

The cool thing about good people is they actually really are, and I like being around them. I know where the lines are myself, so I'm not concerned about concise presentation. It's what you do that matters, or what you would do that I'm likely to predict and deal with.

I also appreciate the honesty of the gold-digger too because at least they're being upfront. I just can't afford that kind of person now. I also prefer the Mr. Independent a little because he's already established and doesn't need help. I just can't stand the arrogance that accompanies that type of guy.

Perhaps what you desire is someone who is pragmatic about an economic local system, and is easily independent when it is the right thing to do only because it is the right thing to do.

I mean ultimately you starve in a gutter if you can't be realistic about economics, and nobody is ever truly independent of all other human contact and symbiosis without going insane and becoming dangerous.
So it's got to be all about measures and proportions.

Would all the people with gold please raise their hand. . Laughing .. Just kidding. I have an independent streak and admire the same in others :-)

It's not so unattainable, at around 350 a pound even a minimum wage earner earns a couple of bars a week.
The average superannuation package comes in at around a million. On average people earn roughly 3 mil through a working life.

The glee about gold digging is mostly glamour. It's a form of delusion.

Any gold digger never got past the "How are you?" question, in my world. I'm too aware to let any guy treat me with disregard. I think independent men are sexy. I also like the student type, who work hard. A lot of my school friends used to freeload off me. Until I started college, and I made better quality friends there.

I am in the fortunate position to have no gold to dig, so I will not be confronted with that sort of person.

Im sure there is a fine line between independence/confidence and arrogance. thats important too.

I spose its the little things or details that make us define what is palatable.

So would I be considered a gold-digger if I prefer the guy to pick up the tab when we go out?

Only if that preference means you wont date him otherwise.

Of course not! but the opposite side of the coin is if I can't afford to go out most of the time would he still consider me a good enough for him.

I see where you might have misunderstood that. As you americans call school 'college', whereas where I am, college is what you people would call 'University'. Sorry if this is confusing. The problem being I don't live in America. So no wonder you think school/college mean the same thing, because over here, they don't. laugh flowerforyou

true but given the cost of living is probably double that .. The average person is hardly someone that interests a good digger. Wealth is not delusional but the value people place on it can be

I Beg to Differ because when I was younger what I looked for in a guy was stability. He could be average as long as he was a good provider. I've seen the downfall in that kind of relationship too so balance really is necessary. The recession should have woke up alot of people to the fact that money can just as easily be lost as it was made!

.. personally I don't mind a woman. who likes me to spoil her.. as long as I don't feel like she expects it.
. that's what money is 4.. to lavish it upon the ones you love..
. but I expect a woman to have her own . professional career. because I like to be spoiled sometimes too..laugh happy .

I would not be interested in a gold digger, I want someone who really wants me no matter how much gold I own.
