A real issue is people who are oblivious to what they are giving up. Not everyone is informed and educated, this video aims to start a conversation so that users can educate themselves and then make informed decisions. Remember how many kids use these services, many of which don't even know what TOS stands for. Who's fault is it then? Who is responsible for educating these younger users of the information they are giving up to use that service? Many don't understand what privacy really is.

That would be intelligence before the fact, rare in today's world. No facebook, no twitter, and what ever happened to Alta Vista?

Just keep in mind.
Anything that can be used against you, will be used against you.
Even if, they have to edit and create the desired results.

Let's all go back to the Commodore computers or Vic-20's. I think that I still have a cassette tape to store data on. That was before Al Gore invented the internet.laugh

Hey I still have my TI-94A with a cassette player. Or how about a Compact SL286 Laptop running DOS, but I do have a copy of Windows 286, worthless, can't do anything but play solitaire.

I dumped my facebook account about 3 or 4 years ago. I tried playing 2 games from Zynga and I just finally got rid of Zynga spam for good a few months ago. Really now folks when you look at the entries to facebook you have you wonder, "WHY DO I CARE?" I don't really want to know that your newborn has changed the color of their poop from green to brown. Been there done that and listened to Bill Cosby talk about it. I don't care what my best friend had for breakfast, lunch, or dinner so why do I care what you had. I saw a comedian on TV last night that put things in perspective. If we were thrust back 200 years ago and we wanted to communicate we would need to do the following. 1. Find a quill and sharpen it. 2. Find a useable inkball. 3. Find the wax for a seal and then find the seal. Then realize that the post will take a minimum of 2 weeks to get from NYC to Philadelphia if it arrives at all. 4. Forget it and go back to quilting . OMG my BFF won't know that the baby's poop changed color and now stinks to high heaven. Oh well maybe it wasn't so important after all.

Before I am accused of being a Luddite let me give a little background. I started working on computers back in 1963. They had tubes and drum memory and 25bit words and parity checking in the machine code. I have helped design them, test them, install them and for over 20 years program them. Went from wire boards, to teletype, to IBM Selectric to 80 column cards (my paycheck was an 80 column punch card)to 96 column Sys3 cards to CRT's.

I enjoy surfing the internet and learning new things. I like playing games (usually by myself). I also use email but not twitter or texting. My cell phone has voicemail. It also is capable of texting but I only get texts from my provider 3 times a day that I delete without reading.

Sometimes there is WTMI. Let's keep some things to ourselves, especially the color and odor of poop.

Oh it goes way beyond that. Ever wonder when you're shopping everybody is so willing to give extra discounts and bonuses if you sign up for their clubs, discount cards, etc.? Well it's because that gives them the right to sell your info, much more valuable than the discount given.

Same for those stores that tell you to run right home and put in your receipt code and see if you are a winner, not really, just makes you one big loser.

Just say no, actually not just no but hell no. Why even here while typing this there are five companies trying to track this, three of them google, facebook and one called chartbeat. But a piece of software I'm running gave them all the finger.

Statism
The brilliant idea that we give a small group of people the right to kidnap, imprison, harass, steal from and kill people, so that we can be protected from people who kidnap, harass, steal and kill people.

A statist is an individual who erroneously believes that there is such a thing as "authority" vested in certain human beings magically giving them the "right to rule" over other people. This "authority" means that certain people who we call "government", have the "moral right" to issue commands to those whom they rule (those under their "jurisdiction"), and that their "subjects" (slaves) have a "moral obligation" to obey the arbitrary dictates set by their masters. Most simply put, a statist is someone who believes in the legitimacy of slavery.
