Do you find it easy to tell someone you aren't interested in them?

Or is it hard for you to hurt their feelings with the truth?

When it's a feeling you have that you can't continue anything more, do you tell them right away?

Easy, though the trick is to be honest and upfront without being too blunt or cruel. Nobody needs their ego/self-esteem crushed.

Yes, tell them as soon as feasible. No sense in delaying the inevitable or prolonging something that really isn't right for you, or fair to the other party. It's never good to 'string along' or be someone's option.

In the online world, no response is a response, because even being nice about it can get you a scathing essay in reply.

Edit: added two words and a hyphen, and another sentence.

If i have been talking to them a while and they express they have feelings for me , then yes its hard. my friend who i have known a long time told me he loved me , though he was four years younger and extremely handsome. I did not have feelings for him because he was like a little brother to me, we do not talk now because of it but i do not regret it because i would have been lying if i had said yes. so my rule is always be upfront and honest.

It's never easy but it's so important to the both of you. Don't waste each other's time! flowerforyou

Just be honest and upfront. That's the least they should be able to expect from you. There's no need to be rude or cruel.

I find it extremely difficult.

I usually throw out lines like,

'I'm noticing that your not happy, Are you sure you want to continue this?'

"For your sake, I feel it's better we just end this now. I'm only concerned with your happiness and it seems i'm not making you happy.'

'It seems i'm not the type of girl your looking for, no it's ok, I understand! No need to say anything'

That kinda stuff usually works well.

No, It's not an easy thing letting people down from their expectations of yourself. It's always a good idea for me to get it over with as soon as I have made the decision. It's too difficult for me to live with the guilt.

This sounds like you are putting it all 'on' him without taking any responsibility yourself?

Just be honest and say "I am no longer interested... " etc etc....

I am most always interested in someone, just not always they kind of interested he is looking for. I don;t tell him I am not interested usually. I will tell him whether the chance of a friendship is realistic or not...I mean if he lives in Ghana or Minnesota, I doubt there;s much chance we'll meet.
