Does anybody know of any helpful hints for me to quit smoking? Also, how about any good stress relievers, besides drinking and smoking?

I quit 2 &1/2 yrs ago. just keep reminding yourself why your quiting every time you get a craving. after 3 weeks the cravings were gone for me so just hang on! for me I wanted to see if I could realy quit and if I was strong enough to really do it, so I didnt want to give in. my grandmother said when she quit she drank OJ when she had cravings and that worked for her. good luck!

Well there are patchs, gums and all that good stuff out there to help people quit smoking.

I'd say write down how it cost you on a weekly or monthly basic and see how much you spend on smoking a lone then see what you could be doing with that money.

Like pay off bills, go shopping, eat out etc. Go to a movie and what not.

Besides have a heathly life and being able to breath better.

Well best of luck to you though.

A new drug called Chantix is supposed to be really great, cuts the craving better than the others and not the side effects of the other meds out there, is only for smoking cessation. It is prescription, by the way.

Good luck to you, I don't smoke, but know many people who have tried to quit and it has been a real battle for them. Best wishes. flowerforyou

I would suggest things to occupy your mouth, your hands, and your mind. Once you've made up your mind to quit, the rest is easy. When you have the urge to put something in your mouth, hand, thoughts... assign a substitute.

Some common choices: sugarless gum, celery, vacuuming.

Chantix......works like a charm if you are serious. Non nicotine med and after about a week, no cravings unless you let them into your head.....went a month and a half the first time, then let myself fall, but now 16 days and don't even care to think about it and can even walk through clouds of it at school without it bothering me.......worth a try if you can get your hands on it

I'd like to quit smoking too. A friend of mine used the patches and they worked for him. I quit for 3 months once, but I got sick of the cravings. I tried the patches, but they made me super nervous. Im down from 3 1/2 packs a day to 1 1/2 packs right now. I chew on a few inches of model airplane fuel line myself. Another friend of mine chewed on toothpicks for about a year and quit totally. Maybe try gum chewing ? You's look silly chewing on fuel line. lol

Quitting is a tough thing but if you make a list of the pro's and con's it is worth the effort.
Thing about being a non-smoker is the misery it saves you down the line; lower resale value on your cars and homes, home fires, premature baby;s that have life long health problems or kids with documented increased health issues, spouses that die of COPD, dentures, job discrimination, higher insurance, even a shrinking field of people who will be your friend, or date you without even mentioning the money you are not spending on any real comfort for yourself.
If/when you do stop in you use a 1/4 cup ammonia in washing all your clothes, bedding, and window curtains you will break out some of the nicotine that you breath back in and make your cravings worse. ...Good Luck

Oh forgot Stress relievers; cross stitch helped me. Keeps your hands busy. If you want I can send you some easy patterns so you can just buy thread and a small amount of fabric.

Friend shared a book with me "Genetic Key Diet"
Frst book that made sense & taught me some things I hadn't heard.

Want to know how to get it, mail me. Cost $14.00 plus shipping.

I have dropped 25lbs. in 6 weeks, 20 real fast & now just a slow decrease. Lots of energy & don't feel like I am depriving myself of anything.
