Scams and more scams this is so frustrating.

Sorry everyone Im feeling so frustrated today.

Fake profiles and Russian scams everywhere.
Not just here but on all dating sites.

Just beware and run every email address on Google before responding this will save you time and trouble. Sometimes they just copy paste messages from other people or use the same template but check for poor English...

When you feel "maybe I just found that special person..." you realize its a scam.

One good thing about Mingle2 is that scam accounts are deactivated quickly but sometimes not soon enough.

Maybe we should have a main topic on the forum to report scammers ?

What do you think ?
Share your advice or just bad experiences.

Take care everyone

JP

I have met a scammer on this site. He was a guy pretending to be a girl living at the Refugees camp in Senegal. They always like to drop their email ID when they need your attention.

I don't know if it's the same in other areas, but for men looking for men, most of the profiles are fake. Opening them reveals no more than a screen name, with no other information.

They usually claim to be in eastern Europe or western Africa. That alone is a red flag. If they claim to live in an English speaking country, but their English is horrible, that's another red flag. Also working for an international organization (not here, but another site I used to be on had a woman claiming to be from Ohio, but working in Nigeria for the World Health Organization) is also suspicious. If they tell you within the first few messages that they love you, that basically seals it. Apparently they think we are all rich idiots. There is realistically no way to completely stop them, but if we know what to look for and pass that information on, we can minimize their effectiveness.

I have had a few people try to scam me on other sites including Skype they are escorts or cam models or even a woman who miraculously claims to fall in love after a day of talking but needs money to come to you or send her dying mom home to the states. I know it is mean but watch for lies let them hang themselves before you commit to anything they always slip up and reveal they are not for real. granted sometimes a person messes up telling you something but when they tell you something like i don't have a cell i use my grans cause she don't use it much and then the next day same number they try to tell you they are using their sisters phone or some bs. I think when we find a fake on here we tell each other and describe or copy the photo here so they cannot change email addresses and come back and use the same photo

Google search by image is highly effective for identifying photos used by scammers, especially when using the Chrome browser as you can just right click on the image and select 'Search Google for this image'.

Everyone on this site has been hit with scammers. If I have the time I like to bust their b***s a bit... play the part of the lonely guy living in his Mom's house...buy into their sob stories.. then when the time is right... tell them where to shove the Western Union tracking number.. it doesn't stop them.. but it feels good.

yea scammers are everywhere online now a days. like maddog said if they say anything bout the WHO or UNICEF that's usually a giveaway. ive encountered a few myself but I find it pretty easy to tell. next time I do come across one though I think I might just play along for a while n turn the tables on them, if theyre going to try to scam me im atleast going to get some fun out of it.

Don't think I can ever be scammed.
Sure, yeah those young attractive women who like my profile, and say how handsome I am, and how they would love to "read" from me, and how they feel I am their soulmate are real..Sure..
Or that "king" who needed my account info so he can deposit his fortune in it, than after he leaves his country he'll share it with me is for real..
Sorry, but anyone who buys into a scam, kind of deserves it.

We have a report system please use it to report all scammers. We ask that members use the system and not the forums for these matters.. If you look to the bottom right of your e-mail you will see Report this user click on that and follow the instructions. Those reports go straight to Admin to check out...

We work really hard to keep the scammers out but they still slip in.. Report Report any that you feel are scammers. Does not matter if they turn out not to be.....Better safe then sorry..

Never go off the site with those that request it within the first few e-mails.. We have free e-mails here no reason too..

At no time are members allowed to post scammers user names on the forums. We ask that the forums are to get to know those that post in the forums and Questions.

With that said this thread is being locked. If you want to share online safety you can on this thread but the rules still apply I mentioned above.
