"She loves you just the way you are even if you do unjustly punish little children."

Abra,

Don't you EVER claim that I am a bad parent again. Do you understand? I would have sent you an email about this, but you delete my emails without reading.

Abra,

I let you get away with insulting me as a parent once and that was my mistake, but I didn't think you would decide to bring it up in another thread. What would possess you to do that? Perhaps you were hoping to make me angry enough that the mods would ban me, I don't have any idea. It's really sad that you don't even have enough faith in your own beliefs to be happy talking about your beliefs. Oh no, you have to insult other people's beliefs, twist my testamony to make me sound like a pervert and now you dare question my parenting. Are you so ashamed of your own beliefs, you will only talk about them if you also spend 50% of your words attacking Christianity or other members of the forums?

"i agree with that stuff but ur not gonna convince the devout, faith=stubborness spider is a good example of that "

The research that has been posted so far is so bogus that actual historians and archeologists don't bother refuting it. Their fear is that by refuting the statements, they might appear to lend credibility to the "researchers" and/or the "research".

no actually its not bogus man, all religions bear striking similarities, if people were willing to look at the evidence presented without all their biases and superstitions that have been hammered into them since birth they would give it more credibility but this argument is just like global warming, one cannot convince the truth to a student who does not wish to learn
They said the world was flat once and the church/believers/authority figures screamed blasphemy

First of all, I've been a Christian for one year this month, so don't assume.

"all religions bear striking similarities"

Similarities? Yes, but not truely striking. There are plenty of refutations of the Horus = Jesus, Hercules = Jesus, Mithras = Jesus claims. They are false, because the proponents stretch the facts. There is a claim that Horus' mother was a virgin, but she wasn't. There was a claim that she got pregnant from a "holy spriit" the truth is that it was a wooden dildo. It's a simply an attempt to paganize Christianity and the story of Jesus. We already went through this with Zeitgeist, they are false claims based on the facts.

"They said the world was flat once and the church/believers/authority figures screamed blasphemy "

Historians have proved that humanity knew the Earth was round since 600 BC. The whole "flat earth" myth was created to smear the religious, namely Christians.

Spider....

I don't read every single thread or post,
they are very time-consuming for me...
but I can read between the lines...

I happen to think you are a very right on guy...
and very strong in your convictions ...

and someone I am proud to know drinker
and I just think that if some people
were so sure about what they believe in...
and so happy with their own lives...

they sure as h---
wouldn't be constantly obsessed
and bent with trying to prove you wrong...

that has always been my belief & opinion..

I agree with you Spider...

It's a war that has no beginning and no end,
it seems like...and it is just so sad...

I don't know ALL the answers and I haven't
got the emotional capacity to deal with it.
It' s heart wrenching to me...

I have friends who are right there
overseas on the real battle ground...
fighting for all of our freedom...

& they don't even know who their enemies are...

I just wish we could all search far & wide for
some common denominators in our existences...
lay down the arms in the religion...
the political sad
and the gender wars

We need to find things we can all relate to
to enlighten and encourage one another...drinker
& come together as one on...happy

And be thankful for the freedoms we have drinker
and be more conscious of a much bigger picture.... drinker

'spider',

"... Don't you EVER claim that I am a bad parent again. Do you understand?..."

If the basis of your accusation and threat are this statement of Abra:

"She loves you just the way you are even if you do unjustly punish little children."

I suggest you stop making calumnious charges!!! They don't serve you in the least.

At very best, Abra was attacking the infamous 'wolves, or tigers, or whatever stupid parable about kids or near adults or whatever again, being mulled or killed for calling some fabricated mythical image 'balled' or whatever!!! made in another post recently.

According to your 'BY THE BOOK' explanations, it appeared that your god felt it was perfectly just to kill or whatever, kids or near adults or whatever, for name-calling 'bald' a mythical character.
Abra's answer to that is simply that his god loves those whom believe in a particular thruth for themselves, where their God is justified and glorified in killing little children because they called some invented figure 'balled'.

If that is not what you ar referring to, you will need to clarify yourself. If it is however what you are referring to, you will need to stop this delusional, self-important way of distorting everything, and turning all statements into personnal attacks.

Your intentions are honorable 'Spider, but your methods are more often than not, ineffective.

Given that this is a PUBLIC forum, open to all: all denominations, all matter of beliefs, or non-belief, all backgrounds and opinions,
... you must get used to encountering people with diametrically opposed beliefs, where your beliefs mean no more, and no less than that of others.

Martyrdom will not work on this forum. Neither will indignation towards some invented 'personnal insults', with the intent of discrediting 'your made-up opponent'.

All that does is end-up discreditng you, and making 'martyrs' of 'your made-up opponents'!!!

You are articulate 'spider'. Stop putting your talents at the service of some vain self-importance, and stick to objective and impersonal debating format.

voileazur,

NO. Abra was talking about me. You don't know what you are talking about. If you look around, you will find a post in another thread by Abra ranting about what a terrible parent I am. This was a reference to that. This has nothing to do with God or anything else, Abra was saying that I'm a bad parent.

voileazur,

Just so that I don't have to post anything else about Abra or his disgusting comments, read them yourself below.

Not only do I feel sorry for you Spider, but I feel even more sorry for anyone who encounters you.

There is no need to "punish". Have you ever thought about trying to simply enlighten someone using intelligence?

You're old school approach to life is pathetic. It's the stuff of the dark ages.

Puke!

You seriously make me feel like throwing up.

i do think skiddo may have posted this just to provoke people not to convince bcause the people that this provokes have strong "faith" ( I.E. denial of reality)

What ?...are you saying that those who have faith
are denying reality...? Just what, to you, is Real?

lizardking19's photo

reality is subjective to what we can prove scientifically
the whole point of faith is that one has to believe it to prove it, with NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER
That is why religion is a mental catch22 and faith is denial of reality
