What I think about humans is that they are born as saints, but then they get screwed up. It's up to you to unscrew yourself. The first step is becoming aware, step two is growing up. Ignoring the terrible things humans do is denial and it is ignorance, let's be aware of the good and the bad in humans. Then we would not call them the greatest living beings, but the most flawed, if we are being honest with ourselves. And realize we were not born that way, but we became that way, then get rid of what we have become and we are left perfect once again. Then realize what I've said is not an insult to anyone at all and let it go.

I have to say I am with this sentiment. I love animals but I have a hard time spending thousands of dollars on pets when our own neighborhood children are going hungry or without medical care because we are spending tax dollars on some exotic animal or insect. I get humans are part of the food chain but somewhere I think we got off course.

What really freaks me out is people who treat their pets better than their family members or allow themselves to be treated worse. When I hear people say well they treat the dog better than me I want to pull people up by the ears and just shake some sense into them.

Makes me crazy when someone will put a pet above being homeless or being abused.

I used to think the same way... until I got my precious cat. You obviously never had a pet that you loved with all your heart. It's easy to judge.

I think with endangered animals, we are saving them in the wrong way. The solution is not to save a few animals and think this will restore the balance on the planet, we need to make ourselves more harmonious with nature in order to restore it. Doing it would require cohesiveness in everything we do, produce and waste, but it should be our motivation to get it right.
