You've dated this really nice person a couple of times and he/she invites you home. Not for sex, mind you, let's say for coffee in the afternoon.

- Do you care about what his/her home looks like, inside and out?
Do you look at the state / type of furniture, what kind of books are in the bookshelf, how clean it is?

- Or couldn't you care less, you simply focus on him / her?

- Could something turn you off, and if so, what would do the trick?

If the house was dirty and unkept, yes that would turn me off. If you can't keep your house clean, how are you going to keep yourself clean?

If the furniture was old and warn, that would not affect me. Maybe she did not have the money for newer furniture.

I would look at what type of books and subjects interested her, but just out of curiosity. Nothing more

Having pets might come into it too.I love animals and would have pets if circumstances allowed it,but if her carpets, furniture and bed were covered in pet hair and she didn't care, that would be a no-no. Also the smell of dogs can make me gag.....

whew thank god it's not just me
yes I look at how dirty his car is
if he has garbage all over the floor of it
I would look at the state of his house, yard
does he have dirty dishes overflowing in sink?
garbage overflowing the garbage can?
does is house smell fresh and clean or like dirty socks?
does he sweep, vacuum or dust?
is there pet hair all over the furniture?
ooooo you better believe I look at that
I want a man that can take care of himself and his home
not one looking for a housekeeper

I agree. my cats don't go upstairs. the dyson vacuum for pets is very good, never any pet hairs here.

Really?? I have yet to meet a Virgo with a clean home... I've known quite a lot of Virgos, including my ex... the stories I could tell you...
Used to mop up his dogs' pee in the garage (he couldn't be bothered to walk them, so they relieved themselves there, not small dogs either). That in itself was utterly disgustingly gross...

Then he took the mop in the kitchen to rinse it out, droplets flying everywhere ... the counter, wall... we're talking kitchen, where ppl have to prepare food...
And he got angry when I told him I was NOT okay with that. He didn't see what the 'fuss' was all about... after all it was just pee?
Couldn't believe it ...
He'd dry the kitchen counter after with the kitchen cleaning cloth, leaving it on the counter after that, and others would use it during the day to clean off the counter (= smear the kitchen with dog pee)

The kitchen cleaning cloth itself was so dirty and full of bacteria, that it felt like picking up a handful of slime ill

So Virgos being clean freaks... not my experience - not any of the others I've known either, although none of them were / are as bad as my ex.

This thread reminds me of a girl I used to date. Her house always smelled of cat chit. When I started sleeping with her one of her cats would vomit in my shoe.

yes i notice her place.though the first time there i damn well better be paying more attention to her. i have never claimed to be neatbut i am not a slob. i guess that comes from to small a place and being a pack rat.

her place? the way she decorates i guess is what i notice most. it really tells about a person. then i notice books hobbies and interests.

the only major turn offs are the extremes if clean. stuff growing in the sink. or i think just as bad. the place looks like a magazine layout with nothing ever touched.

Yes, that last one! I SO hate that!
I am not a clean freak. I like things to be tidy, some things HAVE to be clean, like a bog and the kitchen sink and counter, bathroom and bed.
I am not a slave of my cleaning cloth anymore though, gave up on that some 18 years ago. All I was doing, day in day out, was cleaning cleaning and cleaning.
One day I thought to myself "Is this what I want to do with my life? Be a cleaning lady? Or do I want to do something that is fulfilling?"
I also realized I was mostly cleaning so much, because I feared other ppl's opinions about me. Afraid they'd think I was a bad housewife, a slob, if I wasn't washing my windows every week, cleaning doors all day long etc. etc.
So I stopped doing the over the top cleaning right there and then.

Now my home is clean, but I am not @n@| about it. I can't either, because I have both the household and a huge garden to take care of AND the other things in life that make me happy --> painting, writing etc.
Sometimes you have to prioritize, so yes, there often is a huge washing up on my kitchen counter. But the counter is hygienic, so is the bog etc.

But a home that looks like a sterile operating theater, nothing askew, not even a book on a table, horrible! A home is a home, not a model show-off display. I feel terribly uncomfortable in such squeaky clean, over the top tidy homes.

Same goes for homes that have white walls, no plants, little colour, no painting / pictures anywhere. A home that's bare. Eeww...
And I seriously hate black furniture. A black settee I can live with, but if it comes with matching black cupboards and tables, white walls, I'm gonna do a runner, lol
