Wondering how many people have had to handle someone who clearly is not safe to drive and you do not want to be their passenger? I don't think it is and age issue but I have gone out with people who clearly were just too nervous to drive and I am thinking how do you handle that one without trashing someone's self esteem?

Aaacchhhh... scaredYou gave me flash backs of two drunk dates.

Believe me, their self esteem & ego meant as much to me & mine did to them.

Under those circumstances,
their self esteem would be a "them problem".

I don't like anyone enough to voluntarily allow
them to endanger my life or safety.

Well I would be offering to drive.. If and when they stated they want to drive or insisted on it.
I would look them right dead in the eye and say...
You know I love you right...
good then you won't mind me telling you if you drive I may not love you
ever again... in a very serious and joking manner as I hold my hand out for the keys...

I have already lost a husband and a sister to car wrecks {separate wrecks} I made a promise to my dad to do everything in my power not to die in a car.

So therefore *I wouldn't get in the car.. Period..

my mom thinks i'm a dangerous driver, but she also thinks everyone beside her is one as well....

i can drive just fine, but i will say if someone is a backseat driver in my car...they will need to take a Taxi...because i will drop them off at my first convenience

I'm gather you aren't referring to intoxicated drivers.

Self esteem is derived in part by outside influences. Allowing a crappy driver to believe they are expert at this skill is dangerous not only to you, but to them and everyone else on the road.

You have the easiest super hero feat to perform by temporarily hurting their feelings and telling them, pull over and let me drive or just let me out. You are a maniac!

This little spitting of the truth could save lives!

Drop the hammer on 'em!

BONUS:
Some characterstics of people with high self esteem are:

Being prone to self satisfied boasting
Tending to be smug and superior
Abusing relationships, assuming their needs come first in any situation. If this doesn’t happen, they will become angry and bullying
Adopting an air of superiority, simply because they have skill or luck in a particular area of life
Being blind to their own faults and so are unlikely to change or improve themselves
Tending to have impulse control problems

To quote a now broke as a joke rapper who whose high self esteem helped undermine him:

UH OH, UH OH... STOP! Hammer time!
