Prostitution is one of the oldest occupations known to man. Lets find out why men have patronized these women till date. Dating back till ancient times, prostitution is one of the oldest professions known to man. As much as many people around the world frown on it as a profession, a good number of men still patronize these red light street women, spending a good amount of their income on them to get sexual release. As much as sex is a basic necessity of any human being, procuring it from a woman who has had multiple encounters with other men, increasing the chances that she might have an STD or deadly disease, still baffles many. Could it be just the need for sexual release, the thrill of having an unknown lady in one's bed , or an addition? Lets hear the opinion of people on why they think men still patronize prostitutes today.

There are many reasons why men (and some women) would obtain the services of a prostitute. There are also many reasons why a woman (and some men) would choose to be a prostitute. As long as both parties are involved are there of their own choosing I don't see a problem with it. The only issue I have with prostitution, rather it be male or female, is the fact in many places it's illegal.

"I don't understand why prostitution is illegal. Selling is legal. F***ing is legal. Why isn't selling f***ing legal? You know, why should it be illegal to sell something that's perfectly legal to give away? I can't follow the logic on that one at all! Of all the things you can do, giving someone an orgasm is hardly the worst thing in the world. In the army they give you a medal for spraying napalm on people! In civilian life you go to jail for giving someone an orgasm! Maybe I'm not supposed to understand it..." - George Carlin

No one should have to explain this to you,,, just ewwww,,,the rationalizations to debase the self others, particularly women are pretty much the same rationalizations cited by men of poor taste and no class a..a.heard it all before. And still would NENER date a man if had h ever seen a whore

You are perfectly allowed to think whatever you wish and have whatever opinions you want. However, why should your opinion be forced on to others with the force of law. Especially when it makes no logical sense to allowing sex for free but then arrest people for selling it or paying for it. Since you hate the idea of prostitution, which is obvious with your slanderous language, there are three things that you could do.

1) Don't become one.
2) Don't go to one.
3) Remove anyone from your life that has, will have, or would have gone to one.

Once these steps have been taken, prostitution will no longer affect your life. That's assuming it ever has in the first place. Therefore, what harm would it really be for someone that has no association with you to see a prostitute that also has no association with you.

In the areas where prostitution is legal there are less STI's, less abuse of prostitutes, and less drug use. Compared to areas that have illegal prostitution. People are going to do it one way or another. Might as well make it safer.

A pure form of sex = purely sex

Don't fwb or one night stands provide that too? And you don't have to pay or risk getting arrested

It's much more difficult for most to find that kind of relationship.

If I had to define pure sex, I would say it was sex done for the sole purpose of procreation....spock

To Uchea:

Only '2' 'kinds' can (and affirmatively 'YES') provide you an 'impeccable' explanation:

(a) A lady who's a 'prostitute' by profession

(b) A man who frequents 'those' places

PS (You may consider me to fall in 'neither' of the 'above' 'kinds'):

I do not know why 'men' actually patronize 'prostitution' (or 'prostitutes' for that matter) [maybe 'secrecy'... 'different art forms of sex'... 'the woman's lack of expressing her 'utter distaste' towards the man's 'macabre' way/sense of having 'sex', as a token of 'gratitude' in lieu of 'being handsomely paid'...etc ?).. I really dunno the 'reason' BUT what I do know is:

Prostitutes, do I hold in 'high esteem', for the very sole (and 'simple') reason that they do not cause any harm to the society. They only cause 'harm' to their very own selves.

One 'final' point:

It's because of 'prostitutes' (or 'men patronizing prostitutes') that millions of 'women' from 'morally & ethically' richer backgrounds stay untouched (not raped) till today, in several countries (and 'societies') of this world.

I (and am sure that many more) express my sincere 'gratitude' towards 'those' ladies ('prostitutes') who have been instrumental in 'channelizing' the 'amorous' intentions of 'studs'.. harnessing their 'human' (or is it 'inhuman'?) needs.. holding 'them' at 'bay'....

To quote one...Ewwwwwwww
Sorry I don't mess with the missionary man

"Californiacation"/Christian Fornication?
How did "Weird Al miss this one? I may play with that one

"Missionary Man"

Well I was born an original sinner.
I was borne from original sin.
And if I had a dollar bill
For all the things I've done
There'd be a mountain of money
Piled up to my chin...

My mother told me good
My mother told me strong.
She said "be true to yourself
And you can't go wrong."
"But there's just one thing
That you must understand."
"You can fool with your brother -
But NOT missionary man."

~Eurythmics
Ok..the last line is "Don't mess with the missionary man"
Hey I was fairly polite waving

I 'know' you trust me 'my friend'! After all, it's 'trust' that has kept this world from 'falling apart'

'Usually' I don't 'swear' for the 'only' reason that I would find it 'arduous' to 'swear' upon something else to 'support' my 'swear' of the 'present' issue & this 'nesting' would carry on and on and on and on... (For 'those' who are familiar with the Art of Computer Programming With a Language like C/C++/Java, it's something similar to recursion... the 'recursive' chains continue unless the 'base criterion' is 'met'!) Am I speaking 'Latin'? (Wish I 'knew')

I'll clarify with the help of an 'example' (just in case you aren't 'one' (a C/C++/Java Programmer)):

Suppose: I swear upon 'my best friend's life' saying: 'Go NORTH, Go SOUTH, Go EAST, Go West - You'll discover that Uchea is the very best!

And then, 'someone' might ask me to 'swear' that whatever I 'said right now' is true. And then will I proceed further saying/swearing:

I swear upon my 'very own life' that the 'person I had in my mind as my best friend was NOT actually my 'best friend' but 'an enemy/an 'able' adversary of my 'best friend'!

Can 'you' see the level of complication/complexity that 'these' 'nested' swearing bring forth? Trust me - Recursion (nested OR otherwise) is far 'less' complex and complicated!

The final point ('Panting'):

I appreciate your 'humor'flowerforyou I won't 'swear' (reasons I have explained above) I would say, look into the eyes of a prostitute and 'you' will 'know' it all.

As 'they' say: The best and the most beautiful things in this world, can neither be 'seen' nor 'touched'.. 'They' can 'only' be 'felt' by the 'heart' (Of course, if I possess 'one' such 'heart')!

'Prostitutes', my friend, are devoid of 'hypocrisy'.. You may take my 'word' for it. And merely to 'ensure' that none tend to draw the incorrect conclusion, allow me to emphasize this: All prostitutes are devoid of hypocrisy..BUT All those who are devoid of hypocrisy, are NOT necessarily prostitutes!

I think some people need to understand men and women have different biology.
Sex for the purpose of procreation as far as a man in concerned begins and ends in sex. It is the woman's body that continues the act of procreation after the sex is over. Ok, biology lesson has ended, now let's apply our lesson to real life: Men seek prostitutes for this biological urge, call it for sex or for procreation, for them it is the same thing and it is safe to say it is purely sex which they are paying for.

Prostitution is one of the oldest occupations known to man.

No. Actually, farming is the oldest profession. I know, you've heard that prostitution is and everybody repeats it like parrots but it isn't true. The common image of prostitutes as a special group of outcasts walking the streets may not have arisen until the Victorian era, when health officials blamed them for the spread of venereal diseases.
"It's the oldest profession" saying was appropriated by prostitutes to justify their illegal activities.
The originator of the phrase “the world’s oldest profession” was Rudyard Kipling. His 1888 story about a prostitute begins, “Lalun is a member of the most ancient profession in the world.” As progressives debated how to deal with prostitution in the United States in the early 1900s, medical professionals soon began to cite (and misquote) Kipling, and the phrase took on a life of its own.

Lets find out why men have patronized these women till date. Dating back till ancient times, prostitution is one of the oldest professions known to man. As much as many people around the world frown on it as a profession, a good number of men still patronize these red light street women, spending a good amount of their income on them to get sexual release. As for why, to repeat another's post: convenience.

You said all men are pigs not me...there you go putting words into my mouth once again.

For men procreation and sex are the same thing, so if you know biology then you know men wanting sex is natural. Prostitutes provide this service to men without all the stuff that normally comes after sex/procreation, because those things are women's issues and men don't really want to deal with that just for sex. So, they'd rather pay for just sex.

For men procreation and sex are the same thing . . .

huh So, if a woman uses birth control to avoid becoming pregnant, she can't have sex just for the enjoyment? A woman can't have sex without procreation?
