Everyone needs to learn its a lifelong process but unfortunately few will try unless pushed into it.Man has earned his hard fought for ignorance by withdrawal, denial, ignoring, rationalizing, criticizing, pretending, and other methods of avoidance...

Am an old fashion type of gal, born and raised in the south. Was always taught that you trusted everyone until they gave you a reason not to. My late husband always told me I wore my heart on my sleeve. I am learning now days you have to be more careful. Some people find it hard to tell the truth and when it catches up to them and you confront them all of a sudden you are the bad guy. It takes two to make things work, no matter how hard one person tries it want work with just one being honest.

Learn to win a lady's faith nobly as the thing is high

Isn't this from a poem written waaaaaay back in a time when there wasn't really dating, just courtship which was more of a chance to try and shop up in terms of assets since everything she owned became his property upon marriage, so it was better to court a rich woman?
Also, didn't women go to school specifically to fulfill the role of a woman? Etiquette, elocution, poise, conversation, her place, when to shut up, what she couldn't talk about or she's a whore, things like that?
Not to mention, wasn't a persons social position extremely important, which class they belonged to and where they stood?

seems to me some young men need to learn some old things.

I think a lot of young men would love to learn some old things that offered a sure fire recipe to follow that offers a clear, unambiguous, path...
As long as women learn the things that correspond to them in order to give them relevance and context.

Honor differentiates the men from the boys. It will never out date.
