Having problems with a shortage of women in my local area and I would like to know from some of you that have been though this. In all honesty just how far would you travel to meet and date a potential mate?

I have had Men fly to Alaska and I have flown all over North American continent to meet someone. I am a bit weird though since I don't believe distance should be a factor when it is the real thing. I also have a career that can be picked up and moved.

I guess it depends on you and who you are attracted to
Be open because you never know.
She could be in your area or she could be in another country.

Good luck with your search

how far would you travel to meet and date a potential mate?

As far as my patience, tolerance, and disposable finances would allow.

uhhhhh..see now this is where it gets tricky
I have posted on my profile
" just because we are within driving distance does not mean we will like each other"

on other hand..if they do not live close by
how often and how much you actually gonna date?

Well I guess that helped me shorten things down a bit. I haven't lost anything outside of the U.S. so now I'm down to 3000 miles.

the farthest I've dated was an hour and a half away. it didn't end because of the distance factor but because I wasn't his happiness.

if I had moved out there or him out here, the hardest adjustment for either of us would have been climate change. I don't think I would adapt well.

I've now met someone who is forty five minutes away.
it becomes a matter of considering what works best for the smoothest transition for all involved

I feel this way also, if it was real love there is no such thing as distance.

When I was in my 20's I would have said "anywhere", but being a bit wiser now and realistic, it would depend on:

- which country: Some countries I do not want to live in based on cultural differences. I'm talking about western countries.

- what country he's from (originally): I'm only open to someone from western culture (been there, done that)

- what language he speaks: I am not going to learn another language anymore. Been there done that. Basically it's Dutch or English.

- money: I have very limited resources. I love traveling but without resources ...

Travel to meet someone has never been an issue.

Whether the person can make stay me that's the issue!

If I really like the guy and he is a highly potential mate , i would be willing to meet him but there are some factors that we should consider: 1) place - how far are you from each other? Would it be possible for you to go there; 2) finances - do you have the money to support your travel expenses? ; 3) time - could you both give a sufficent time for each other to spend time and get to know each other more and establish something to look forward to. It would be unfair for someone who took the effort to travel just to see you and all you can give him is a little time less than the hours of travel he took. ; 4) patience - if you live near or far from each other, would you endure the time you will spend traveling from your place to her place? For how long & how often? Can you tolerate the situation & not complain? ; 5) feelings - before meeting someone, make sure that somehow you have established good friendship already during the chatting period and confirm it to yourselves if you have feelings and ready to see the person already. In my opinion, if you still haven't established that special feeling and you spend time money and effort just to see that person, wouldn't be a waste ? Just being practical and honestly I don't like the idea of a guy spending that much for nothing, unless if he is expecting to get something else then he will be greatly disappointed.

And after the date , how willing both of you to further the relationship? Don't spend much if you think there is nothing to look forward to. Be wise men and women, nothing's wrong to be cautious and practical. But if you think you have a lot to spend and can afford it without regret, go on lavish it on yourself and with your date:smile:
