Hello Debbie! Nice thread:) Do I hear a sound of hopelessness and desperation in this post? I have never suffered from chronic illness but I went through a lot of pains in my life and I understand how it feels because once in my life I have come to a point that I asked the Lord to take my life so I wouldn't feel the pain anymore. But I thought of how precious life is to waste or give up.......NO, I wouldn't trade my beautiful soul for anything. But rather I will use my illness or suffering to be an inspiration to everyone who keeps on struggling in life. Let my beautiful soul be shared to everyone who are losing hope. I will be thankful enough to live the remainings of my life here on earth with purpose. The pain may not go away, but with faith and hope and a steadfast prayer for a miracle will give you strenght to go on living. I was simply curious to know if people would trade their best qualities to live a life free of pain and suffering. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Copied from your post dolphin. Nope but hell nooooooooooooo... Have you ever watched a movie where they gave up their souls to have something they wanted? Whether it be health or money it always backfires the Devil calls those souls back as soon as they get what they want.. I would rather live my life with what ever health issues I have with a clear mind and soul... I have learned to deal with what ever comes around with a smile....Worrying about it or talking about it all the time only makes one dwell on it too much...

For example, If you suffered from a debilitating chronic illness, that caused much suffering and pain etc.....and there was no cure IF you had the option to be cured of your chronic illness and trade it in for your beautiful soul, for example in my case, compassion/empathy, whatever your best quality is, would you? For people who haven't got chronic illnesses and they CANT imagine what they would do,im trying to make this easier for you, but the same still applies. For example, if you needed your leg amputated etc..... and you could trade your soul/best qualities and keep your leg and save your self from illness, would you? I am asking about YOU personally. BUT if people want to add their children to this, that is fine. I know that's a tough one, so please don't feel you have to answer, what ever you feel comfortable with. When you sell your soul it is always to the Devil. And once he has you he is not known to play fair.. He never puts a timeline on how long it is before he will recall that soul it is normally within a few days of him granting your wish... Now if it was for one of my kids or grand kids it would be a different story... For I would burn in hell to let them live a fulfilled life since I have lived this long I'm good where I'm... |

This thread isn't going how I wanted it to. Its NOT about me, I was simply interested to know if people would sacrifice their best qualities to be cured of a vile, debilitating chronic illness.
Im not talking about myself at all and my illnesses, that's why I did not state my health issues, this thread is NOT about me in anyway. --------------------------------------------------------------- Preshant - Some people have illnesses that causes so much suffering they don't feel they are living, just simply existing. They have NO quality of life at all and I think some people would trade pretty much anything to lead a actual life. That's what inspired to do this thread. Im not talking about myself. Thanks for posting. Even if 'we' haven't suffered this, we might know other people who have. ------------------------------------------------------------------ For the people who got exactly what I meant, asking out of interest and no other reason, thank you. I wont be coming back to this thread because its NOT about me and its lead where I didn't want it to go. |

How could i trade an innate quality of mine to preserve a physical one? It kinda makes me think of Dorian Gray, in a way.....or vampires...trading something permanent for something temporary...something spiritual for something physical... Tho i do know of stories that reflect the flipside of this. When people approach God or a saint for a cure of what ails them whether it be a sickness, a personal problem or whatnot...they usually do this when they've exhausted all other options....they ask for something to be given them, and if it happens, they would in turn, pledge themselves, sometimes even their family or their children to minister to their faith, but this is more out of gratitude, rather than a bargain or exchange... This concept makes more sense to me. I just saw that you wont be posting on this thread again.,,i just wanted to put my two cents in.

Well, having seen my mother be bed bound for the last 6 to 7 years of her life, and having seen how full of life she was before her illness. And the differences in her freedom and independence, I would have to agree with Prashant, and say YES!! After all it is not about selling your soul, but rather about losing some qualities that we may not even know we have inside of us. I would like to finish with "Health is wealth" if you have health there is not much need for anything else aside from love. And Love can be had by anyone and everyone even people who's personality is not all that (Bad Personality - because one would have sold them excellent attributes in exchange for health!) Off course, this is simply my own opinion and many do disagree. Usually, the norm is that the masses are correct, and the minority incorrect lol Jaan  |

I don't think most would sell their soul but if it meant giving up a special talent I might consider that.
I am thinking of the golfer, that is so great that he was able to compete in the Master's tournament, I would see that as a fair trade for being pain free from what is a very tough illness. But then again that is how he supports his family so that would be a shared sacrifice if he had to go another career direction. I did have such excruciating pain in my hand that had injuries to the nerves. At one point I considered having it amputated but eventually they were able to block them and now all I have is numb spots. But the flipside of that is I could not feel my grandbaby hold my fingers on that hand and that was kind of sad. All things do seem to be a trade off. |

People who are suffering always want to have a glimpse of HOPE or MIRACLE. A beautiful soul is what's left of us that we can share and touch other people's lives. I would never trade it for anything. Yes Debbie , I saw that post before about you like Florence Nightingale. How can you trade a beautiful soul, when there are so many lost souls out there that are seeking for some light? One single light of a beautiful soul would light up the world and fill it with HOPE  The journey of life is a long road of pain and suffering, a never ending struggle for survival. We all have one precious life to live, and what more could you do to make it meaningful but to share your beautiful soul that would enlighten the hopeless. Give hope, give love and care, a true affection and compassion that would embrace and ease the pain and sufferings, share a beautiful soul , make a difference in touching the life of others. |
