I have heard that USA supplying the Syrians with an anti-aircraft land based guns. I hope they are realizing that one Russian plain that will get shot from it will break "the thin ice" of he peace on the planet. R hey out of heir mind? Russia isn't a North Korea. The pple are determined and still remember the ww2 and the price they paid to win in it. And they WIll answer no matter how big the NATO's fist. They are cornered with the economic sanctions and they won't have nowhere to back off, but to start bombing everything. I hope the politicians understand that, cus they will b the first and primary target in such occurrence. And all this about one natural gas pipe? Right. Let's destroy the world and no one will need this freaking gas. So stupid....

anti-aircraft guns surprisingly aren't terribly effective against modern aircraft. fighter planes and transport planes can usually fly high enough to stay out of range and attack helicopters are so heavily armored that the bullets usually just bounce off of them. anti-aircraft guns are however devastating against trucks light armored vehicles and massed infantry attacks.

There IS a difference!

A Shell is hollow, and usually filled with some sort of an Explosive, and carrying a Fuze!

I did miss speak "shells" would have been a much better word but it doesn't change the fact that they are usually ineffective against aircraft but vary useful against ground targets.

A shell is a type of munitions that has a bullet a type of propellant and a fuse and primer. So I would say most people would understand either term used in a conversation

'cause they are hollow and filled with Propellant and Shot!
But we are talking about anti-Aircraft-Guns,a Horse of an entirely different color!laugh

Anti-aircraft guns are weapons designed to attack aircraft. Such weapons commonly have a high rate of fire and are able to fire shells designed to damage aircraft. They also are capable of firing at high angles, but are also usually able to hit ground targets as well in a direct fire role.WIKI

I used to work for OERLIKON/CONTRAVES,and they would definitely look askance at you of you called those Shells,Bullets!laugh

Also served in the Artillery, and definitely wouldn't call those 105mm-and-155mm Shells Bullets!laugh
Bullet is SOLID,a Shell ISN't!
They were actually filled with some nasty High-Explosives,and produced Fragments out of this world!

Hey I'm not saying you're wrong it even says shell on the outside of the projectiles but it is basically a bullet also.
