With an American public increasingly weary following the recent terror attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, President Obama’s job rating has dipped to its lowest level in more than a year, a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds.

According to the survey released Tuesday, just 43 percent of U.S. adults approve of the job the president is doing, while a majority (51 percent) disapprove. Six percent said they are not sure if they approve or disapprove.

In October, the same poll found 46 percent approval of Obama’s job as president, compared to 49 percent disapproval. And taking into account the survey’s 3.1 percent margin of error, Obama’s current job rating is dangerously close to its all-time low of 40 percent from September 2014. (President Obama’s highest job approval rating — 61 percent — came in April 2009, near the beginning of his first term.)

What’s more, just 20 percent of American adults believe the country is “headed in the right direction,” according to the NBC/WSJ poll, while 70 percent say “things are off on the wrong track.”

The latest survey was conducted just days after the mass shooting in San Bernardino, Calif., where 14 people were killed and 22 others injured in what federal authorities believe was a terror attack carried out by violent “homegrown” extremists inspired by ISIS terrorists like those who killed 130 people and wounded 89 others across Paris the month before.

Last week, President Obama delivered a rare primetime address from the Oval Office, urging Americans not to give in to fear in the wake of the recent attacks.

“I know that after so much war, many Americans are asking whether we are confronted by a cancer that has no immediate cure,” Obama said. “The threat from terrorism is real, but we will overcome it.”

Obama said the San Bernardino attack “was an act of terrorism designed to kill innocent people” and that the shooters — Syed Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik — “had gone down the dark path of radicalization.”

But critics said the president’s speech offered nothing new in the way of the U.S. policy for defeating ISIS.

“Nothing that happened in the speech tonight is going to assuage people’s fears,” Florida Sen. Marco Rubio said on Fox News.

“That all there is?” Republican frontrunner Donald Trump wrote on Twitter. “We need a new President — FAST!”

Low? What do you expect from a snake?

Someone will soon come say how they are frustrated with the OPs article and state how Obama isnt at fault for his low approval rating.

Meh. Obama hasn't done anything recently to boost poll numbers. No surprise. So of COURSE it's his fault.

Minor point: nothing that the campaigning would-be candidates is pertinent to any judgement of any sitting Pres. By definition, they find fault with him/her.

One of Obama's errors from the start, has been failure to properly use the "Bully Pulpit" to promote his causes and choices. When you leave the message up to your opponents, especially when your opponents don't care about the truth, and only care about political advantage, your poll numbers and general support will fall.

His main error was from the start alright.... his habitual lying and deceit!

As for his causes and choices.... most have Constitutionality issues, have screwed the people he is paid to serve, or lacks any basis in logic, economics, or morality

Sheesh! He even turned the peoples White House into a gay flag and spoke down about the South's Battle Flag (a part of history) to divide the people he's supposed to serve, ALL THE PEOPLE, to further racial division, not to mention his "if I had a son" speech to get the ball rolling!

OK,now stop messing up the poor Guy's Christmas-Vacation!

Jonesing for Hawaii?

i noticed he hasn't been back to Mississippi for a swim in the gulf... i guess it just not befitting for a king to lower himself to go on a cheap vacation...

I'm surprised that Obonzo's approval rating is that high.

Not that it matters, but the links I am seeing note that Obama's approval rating is down to it's lowest since he took office, which is 42.6%.

Bush made it down to 37.3% at HIS lowest.

Notes: Obama has never been either as popular as Bush was at his height, nor as unpopular as Bush at his low point.

I personally don't take much stock in these "approval ratings," since they don't directly affect anything, and since events themselves, have a lot to do with ratings. That is, any sitting President gets approval boosts when positive events he had nothing to do with occur, and gets negative hits when some kinds of bad stuff happens. When the bad stuff is a direct attack on the nation, and the President does any kind of tough talk about it, approval ratings will climb.

Every statistic is controlled by media. The media is controlled by 6 liberal networks.

The proof is in everyday life. And the tally on that is 70% say the nation is heading in the wrong direction.... the rest are brain dead liberals!!
