Dragon that is Sooooo right of you!!!! Very refreshing, that is not usually the case with most people. You obviously have an open mind and loving heart. Thats wonderful for all of you. bigsmile

Just for the record, my post wasn't directed at you, just food for thought for all single parents wanting to join theirs lives with another.

Gams, Very well said

Unsure, I never said anything about support.

But since you mention it, If I was to date and eventually fall in love with someone who had children. I would treat them as my own, otherwise it wouldnt be fair to them. So yes I would be supporting them as well as the lady I fell in love with.

But that is not the problem, The problem is I would never ever ever date someone who sits and says my children are first, I know they are and you dont need to tell me. Which means My life has to fit around your schedule and I really dont need to fit around peoples schedule.

I can easily wait until I find someone in my situation and let everything fit around mine and her schedule. I would be first in her life and she would be first in mine.

Gams, I know. I am enjoying this conversation. Just contributing my part :)

Overall, I see a lot of valid points made.

Just for the record I never take offense to anything said in forums and such.

Exactly mike, I wouldn't date that kind of parent either!

Like I mentioned the third party has hopes, dreams, desires and feelings as well and they are equally important. Hopefully, you and the other person will still be walking through life together long after the children have moved out and on....so make each other an equal priority.

I prefer a man with no children but if I meet a man with children I would treat them like my own and even make the effort to be friends with their mother.

The children are very important when it comes to choosing our partners, not their fault they are part of it.

sowie mikey me just playing devil bigsmile

No one wants to date a single mom with two kids? Are you living in this century? You kind of have to these days. Besides....... Haven't you heard the term "MILF"? Gotta work for it, right? I can look past a woman having kids these days. Children are people and could really use a good person in their life. They need to see a steady relationship between husband and wife so they don't get all funked up on things. If I found a woman I can see myself with, I would fall in love with her children as well. So long as they are willing to accept me. Because to date the mother, is like dating the whole family. They all have to accept you and love you.

Is this a pity thread??? because I have never had a problem dating anyone because I was a single mom with a child...anyone worth a grain of salt wouldnt see that as a deterrant!!noway noway

ima hafta say i'm amazed at that; while there certainly isn't a shortage of guys who would swarm a woman with children, there is clearly (clearly!) another contingent who would depart post haste given the condition of woman with child.

you live in a weird world without the latter, gyps?

I can't date a mom, well she'd have to be pretty secure in being to take care of her self and her children before I'd try. I don't know, I've romanticized the idea of swooping in and being a greater father to some kids than their real-father ever could be, but it's hard to be confident in parenting skills when you are unemployed and broke...

...I guess I can't date a mom yet would be a more accurate reply.
