Do you think artificial intelligence will take over from humans?

No, I don't think AI will take over humankind, for the simple reason that we can't currently get artificial intelligence to "think for itself". The things that make the human brain work are not completely understood and any attempt to replicate that with robotics and computers is next to impossible. I know it's really easy and convenient to think this way, but AI won't be doing away with us any time soon. In fact, as I see it, our "AIs" will not be able to survive long without us. Sorry, no robot uprising. Hopefully never, and certainly not for a really, really, really long time.

As AI advances more jobs will be taken from humans, we already see the amount of automation in automobile manufacturing, lines of robots have replaced many workers. Driverless cars are in development, although it will probably be many years before we see them for sale, it is true to say more and more human tasks are being taken over by machines. However, I do not believe machines will ever take over in the sense of becoming our masters.

But at least it's effective if......then see that? I don't think there can't be all the people are with the same artificial more or less unless.......you know what I mean......don't blame Obama....it is necessary.

There seems to be a big misconception about automation or "robots" taking jobs from humans. More accurately, it is just a transference of jobs. A "robot" may take the place of an assembly line worker at a car plant but it creates jobs at the company making the robot.

This includes manufacturing of the parts needed for the robot, the software engineers, design engineers, maintenance and on and on.

It also creates new jobs at the auto plant where there were none, i.e. software programmers, specialized maintenance repair and set-up mechanics.

So it's very hard to accurately state how many jobs are created or destroyed by automation. In my opinion, its a wash.

The question is," Do you think artificial intelligence will take over from humans? "My answer was meaning that it already has to some extent, and it will increase further in my opinion, just how far we will have to wait and see, but never to the extent of becoming our master, again in my opinion.

In reply to your comments, I would say you are right, new technology requires people as well, and people do move from one type of work to another. Generally speaking, manufacturing moves forward by reducing costs and labour represents costs, no company spends money on new technology without an overall benefit in cost reduction. This usually means more machines and fewer people employed in the company, whatever the industry.

Whether the total number of people employed in the new industries are greater than those displaced by automation, I am not so sure that is true to say. Strangely, here in the UK I have started to see Car Washes spring up, using people with pressure washers and chamois leathers, the personal touch so to speak and the old drive through automatic car wash gone, and I wonder to myself why is that happening.
