Walking into dime store. Non automated door gets slammed in my face. Woman says, "Omg, I didn't see you were behind me! So sorry!" That's all it takes! Thank you Ma'am! Thank you for your acknowledgment and courtesy!

I appreciated this SO much!

It is so worth being courteous,

And being acknowledged can be a delight:smile:

Good topic!

I had a hectic day today & a lot of running around. But fortunately I had driver that had extra patience with me.

When all was done & I told him how much I appreciated him being patient & that I needed a little kindness today, that little things can mean a lot... He seemed shocked. As if no one had thanked him in a long time.

I handed him a big tip & he said
" I don't have pockets".
I said, " But don't you know someone that does ?"

We both laughed. He took the money. And it may have been the only smile, either of us had today.

I don't know if it's a good thing but I hold the door for others quite often, because when I was younger my father once told me to always hold the door for someone because you never know what is waiting on the other side unless someone else goes first. I knew he was joking because of the way he said it (which I will not repeat verbatim) but it always kind of stuck with me.

Manners are so missed by so many. I don't think "this" is uncommon.

I think I am MORE impressed by folks who are really AWARE of their own surroundings.

......as everyone these days are looking down....instead of "out"!

You are so right on this, I don't care on the race , age or gender if I can be of some kind of help to that person
I'll do it..... all I ask for is thank you.

I do think some people don't even realize when they are being rude or what not.
I know I was raised with manners and respect and I raised my kids with them.
Doesn't hurt to say please and thank you, excuse me, have a nice day etc.
Hold the door open when needed.
Or give a extra large tip when earned.

Last week I went to a Department Store and there was a guy holding the front door open so people with packages could exit. More and more people took advantage of the kind gesture and he just kept standing there. He had family waiting for him to go to their car.

As I got to the front door from the parking lot, I came up behind him and grabbed the door and said "My turn." He turned and smiled and said "Thanks".

I recently found a unsigned check for 1021.00 in a unmarked envelope at our resort, we have over 1000 units so I looked up the name on the check, found the guest and returned the check, needless to say they where overwhelmed with gratitude and offered me a reward I refused the repeated thank you's where more then enough,Well these people contacted the main office for the company I work for and waited until they talked to the owner to tell them about me finding the check so thank you folks for making me look good in front of my boss. One good turn deserves another.

The one thing that makes me proud of my children more than anything is how well mannered they are.

A please and thank you is a must in my book.

You know, I am willing to bet that most people (say 98 out of 100) would have kept the check, saying it was finders keepers or that God must have wanted them to have it. Sadly, we live in "it's all about me" type of world, so this is cool to read about.

Great job so nice to hear and it did make you look good but that was easy since this was only an extension of "who" you are

Yup, too many folks forgetting good manners. It is an extension of your humanity. If you are given to the negitive type of energy, you will always be a taker. Positive energy is always, giving, sharing and being polite and mannered. Also doing a good turn can cause a butterfly effect that can cause a wave of positive actions to be made rather than negitive ones. Thanks, for this post BeachFarmer!

Aaaawwww..

Good for you Metalwing.

This really.touched me.

I also open doors for men and women.all the time .

Very few say thanks but I dont do it for that reason anyway .

The other day I was taking a maxi and this lady walked in with with a screeching toddler.

The driver told her that that she had to leave as the toddler would be a nuisance to the paying passengers.

Everyone in the vehicle begged the driver to allow the lady and her kid in and he quickly relented with a shrug of his shoulder.

During the ride, everybody pitched in to entertain the toddler who eventually stopped crying and drifted off to sleep.

That display of community spirit left me smiling for the rest of the day happy
