any violent reaction on this one and why?

The reason why some people react negatively to this when it comes up, is because of what they think you mean by "self-respect."

As with any basic ideal, there are people who proclaim that it really means something entirely different than it actually does.

When I was very young, in college, there was a bit of a fad by some younger women, to loudly state that their having self-respect, meant insulting any male who said "good afternoon" or who kept a door from hitting them in the face. Had I not already begin to think carefully and logically, I might have concluded as some sad angry males have, that when a woman has self-respect, it means she is hostile to all men.

When self-respect means what I think it ACTUALLY means, then it's invariably a good thing, for men, women, children, and any other group you can name.

:) I agree ,"self respect" should not only apply for your self but for all the people/things around you as well.

but their are certain people bragg about self respect ,but bullying others :tears

* self respect is a step toward "taking charge of yourself as a human being " and the responsibility that it encompasses.
* to understand other people and/or nature you must first provide respect. To do that you must understand and respect yourself.

Self respect does not mean being selfish or selfless but finding a place of dignity for all.

Self respect does not mean you ignore every insult but it does mean you can ignore the braying of a jackass and reply so masterfully that they think they are not being lead to the glue factory.

Self respect is accepting ones humanness while still striving to be God like.

Self respect is knowing your boundaries and but exploring your borders.

Only to the idea that it's "the most beautiful quality,"
as though there's some kind of hierarchy or that there should be.

Not to mention this particular "quality" is very easy to fake, can easily be mistaken for other qualities, can easily have a negative influence on someone, and tip the balance to causing negative things (too much pride, overconfidence).

I don't see any real reason for violence on this one. If there is then it's their own problem.

One of the top 3 most attractive qualities to me for many years. If it's the true version & not what so many have confused with something else, it's a beautiful thing & hard to come by

I believe that there are too many good attributes/characters to mention that a woman should possess to make her more attractive depending on a man's perspective and self respect is one of the most beautiful quality.A woman with self respect has confidence in herself that she is a good person worthy of being treated right.But before you expect others to treat you fairly, you must also do the same, act accordingly towards your fellowmen, do what is fit and reasonable. As the saying goes " Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"......That is how you gain self respect.
