I don't know if Dr. Phil is straight or gay, and I'm not really sure it's the sort of thing I want to spend a lot of time thinking about, but I did see him on TV once with a young man claiming to be his son, and they referred to a mom, so maybe we'll have to wait until Dr. Phil Jr. writes his tell-all book.

As for the other thing, I think Dr. Phil has either found or created a niche for himself in the TV talk -- self-help -- pseudo-celebrity -- quasi-expert arena. If you can ensconce yourself in that venue for more than a couple years, you basically have the position for the rest of your life.

I think of him as the Dr. Joyce Brothers for the new millennium, only taller and with less hair.

Straight(I'v never questioned that) and he seems to really be concerned. I'v never seen any reason to not think that. I love how he is really honest. haha I have no idea what people have a against him.

I swear, I have not watched the man long enough or with anything that comes close to the interest needed to intelligently answer either question.

I've watched his shows enough to think that he is definately straight. He generally seems to care about what goes on with his show and the guests that he has on....

He makes BIG bucks....I'm sure, anyone linked to Oprah...would.

He set out with a goal of creating a TV show and he did it using what he knows how to do. He's an icon right up there with Oprah now on daytime television. Takes a very driven person to succeed like that.

But it is still just a TV show in the end, with everything played out for an audience and ratings fist and fore-most.

As someone else said about him: "pop psychology catch-phrases and feel-good-garbage presented to appear as actual psychological counseling."

But it is entertaining. lol

Dr.Phil isn't a real doctor, he just tells it like it is. He doesn't really have any more insight than me or you, but to answer the questions:

1) Straight - Have you seen his wife? She's pretty hot.
2) Concerned and in it for the money - He does get people connected with some real professionals, and helps people get help. He wouldn't have a show unless he wanted money.

Who cares if he's straight or not, unless you are hoping to have an affair with him, it's no one's business.

I suspect, initially, he was the anti politically correct, tell it straight, and shock the pants off a nation caught in the throws of the 'Self help' culture.

Now? He believes his own propaganda, and is nothing more than a showman, snake oil seller.

In my opinion.

Of course he cares! He cares that he gets plenty of idiots with basic problems that he can sit down and make an ass out of them across the nation. Does it help them? NO.. How long could any of us sit in front of so many Tards that refuse to change (lol...You think the guests that he rips on have never heard what he's said before?) ....
