Can't say I've had any widowers message me. Then again, they have just been allowed recently to get married here in the states.

Yah got lucky then..every other message I get is an unlucky soul who lost his wife.
I do think most...not all are scammers

I agree that scammers seem to use being widowed as part of their typical profile. Unfair for those of us who really are widowed.

I think it is "self perception" but maybe people think it sounds better to say they are widowers than divorced. I have seen divorced guys who out lived their ex-wives calling themselves widowers. But the number of widowers is much higher than people would guess.

I do think people who are widowed do have a "stage" where they are "hot" to remarry because they just don't want to deal with being single; especially if they liked being married and were widowed with little warning or with kids they need a "Mommy" for. Usually they get their duckies in a row and the rush to remarry subsides.

Men rarely seek collecting social security from a late spouse even if she worked because they just don't think about it as a benefit. Because many women born in the 50's and 60's earned minimal benefits while in the "homemaker" stage their partners do not want to go through the hassles to get benefits started.
