I guess some relationships have a longer life-cycle than others... people grow apart for a variety of reasons.

Simple, relationships die because either one or both of the individuals involved give up on the relationship. This is true for any type of relationship. Cheating, lying, ignoring the other person, etc, etc, etc, happens in continuing relationships all the time. These are not deal killers. All people change over time. Commitment to the relationship is the key to making them last. Give up and it's done.

I think this is true.
Tis easy when you have the same level of commitment..
much harder when you do not.

And when the passion settles, some think it's a
ticket to ride.

Like water, love can seep in and fill every empty
place a person has..or it can drain away.

The first thing to realize, if you want to answer this seriously, is that there are a number of different kinds of relationships, and several different philosophical bases.

The ones in my life which ended, did so because one or both people thought that the relationship was all about magic controlling everything, and that lust was the primary indicator that the magic was present and telling them what to do and who to be with.

The ones that lasted the longest, were the ones where both people saw their lives as consisting of being with their mate, come what may.

Lots of the ones that failed, really never existed to begin with. The people in them thought they were there because of love, but realized on some level later, that they had a bunch of other reasons they were or weren't willing to deal with what came along, and so they hit the eject button.

Maybe because there are different relationships: for a reason, for a season, for a lifetime..;)
