Does questioned equal mocking?

Does this look like a question to you?

Hey, Abra can say whatever he wants to say, but don't knock us Christians when we defend the Bible from his attacks. I have asked Abra to stop his attacks on Christianity, but he insists that he must. I think it would be nice if 1/2 the posts in the forum wasn't "The Bible is a lie" / "No it's not" repeat ad nausem, but hey that's Abra's choice. I'll get blamed for his bad behavior, but who says that life is fair?

The bible is a book. So is Lord of the Rings. Both written by men. Asking me to believe either is true is asking me to lie to myself. Which I cannot do. Plain and simple.

I try to give each individual equal respect to their own choices for their own reasons...

None of us are always "the pillar of strength" when it comes to being tactful or accurate in our own understanding(s) of what others say and/or mean with their words.

I love my God... I would not reject the Bible for my own reasoning... I, however, also would not reject someone else's reason(s) for rejecting it... or accepting it.

I personally respect and appreciate diffrent things about everybody I have met here.... regardless of differences...

I do not believe that Abra's sole reason for calling God a "she", is in any way INTENDED to offend... If I am wrong he will correct me later...I am sure...lol...

Whether or not someone is offended by anything, is contingient upon several factors, one of which, is what acceptances the offended one has within themselves... not always what is truly meant...

As a matter of fact, I would guess that we have all accidentally offended someone in our lives... even if it went unbeknownst to us....

kidatheart......with all due respect to compare the Lord of the Rings with the Bible.......pleaseeeee....

1. The Lord of the Rings is fiction

2. The Bible is not....and to Christians it is written by man inspired by God....And just for argument sake I do believe in God....Do you think he would ever let just a bunch of men write down his words on how he feels the human race then and now should be.....I think not. Also remember that the men that wrote the bible were very intelligent men, men that were sticklers for detail....and also remember were talking about a book yours thats what 25 years old compared to a book that 2000 years old......

Ok, how about Homer.laugh

I don't believe it's the word of god any more than than ANY other book in existence no matter the age or who it was written by.

I do not attack Christianity my dear Spider. I simply ask questions and explain why I am not convinced by the answers. This is what discussion forums are for.

You have confessed that you are only here to ‘save souls’ and NOT to discuss religion!

You have confessed that you have a closed-mind to religious discussions in that you reject the idea of looking outside of the Bible for answers.

Let’s face it Spider, you just want everyone to shut up and listen to YOU PREACH! laugh

Go ahead Spider, preach away!

I told you before that you should just start a church thread and be honest about your evangelical mission.

I even promised that I wouldn’t post in that thread!

You don’t want to discuss religions and the possibilities of other potential ways of thinking of God.

All you want to do is preach Christianity!

So why don’t you do just that?

Start a thread “Reverend Spider’s Church of Christ” and treat it like your church!

You aren’t here to discuss religion. You’re hear to PREACH!

Same goes for Feral.

Why don’t you guys just do that HONESTLY instead of pretending that you are willing to discuss religion in general when you clearly are NOT.

Just start up some 'Church Threads' and preach away! And quit pretending that you are open to discussions when you are not.

At least I'm honest.

You outright reject the Bible and anytime someone wants to discuss the Bible, you instantly go into your "I was a Christian..." story...

At least I admit that I'm not willing to accept other's beliefs into my own belief system, you reject Chrisitanity off-handedly and then hypocritically attack me for doing to same thing with your beliefs.

I told you before that you should just start a church thread and be honest about your evangelical mission.

That is against forum rules, no thread can be exlusive to one religion.

Let’s face it Spider, you just want everyone to shut up and listen to YOU PREACH!

I'm sure I do my share of preaching, but I also do a bit of discussion on current events and also religious topics. I always fall on the side of Christianity, but you always fall on the side of pantheism, so what's the big deal? But you do your own fair share of preaching, not that you would ever admit to that! Then you would have to admit you are a hypocrite for attacking me because of my preaching.

Well I guess I don't quite fit that mold...because I have studied many many religions before I became a Christian. including now yours......But I do have a question for you abra....which kind of panthiest are you exactly....

Are you a scientific panthiest
a Christian Panthiest
wiccan panthiest
Athiest panthiest

And as you have put it...we don't want to learn new ways to think about things...just as you wont......

And I already have a thread Christian Coffee House Chat thank you very much.

So if you don't believe in religion then why don't you stop posting in religion thread....yea that makes sense to me....maybe start a panthiest site for all the same believers to go and discuss the creation, conservation, and ways of a panthiest......

At least I'm honest.

If that’s true then why don’t you do as I suggest and just start a thread stating that you’d like to preach Christianity to anyone who is interested, and that you don’t wish to hear other points of view?

I seriously don’t understand why you don’t just do that.

You outright reject the Bible and anytime someone wants to discuss the Bible, you instantly go into your "I was a Christian..." story...

Of course I do. When someone asks a question about the Bible that I have asked in the past I’m going to offer them my personal story and the conclusions I’ve come to.

What’s wrong with that?

You think that’s negative because you disagree with it. I think it’s positive because I’ve been there and asked those questions and I can offer my insight to why I answered them the way I did.

Just because my answers concerning the Bible were negative doesn’t mean that it’s being negative to share them!

At least I admit that I'm not willing to accept other's beliefs into my own belief system, you reject Chrisitanity off-handedly and then hypocritically attack me for doing to same thing with your beliefs.

Not true. It’s NOT off-handedly. I’ve been thinking about these issues for almost a half a century. I’m 58 years old and I started thinking about these issues quite early in life!

I told you before that you should just start a church thread and be honest about your evangelical mission.

That is against forum rules, no thread can be exlusive to one religion.

I wasn’t aware of that.

What about the Coffeehouse for Christians then? And I’ve seen other threads specific to religions too. Are you sure that’s against the rules? Why not just try it and see if it gets deleted? That’s about the worst that can happen.

It’s wroth a shot. Maybe it will survive and you can live happily ever after in your church thread building up a congregation and saving souls.

You did say that this was your intent. Why not at least try it. What could it hurt. It could potentially make a whole lot of people very happy! flowerforyou

It's in coffehouse chats...where you could do the same abra Im sure......And why haven't you answered my questions? Are you still trying to figure out which one you are.

None of the above. If I had to put a label on it I would call it “Natural Pantheism” however, that doesn’t meant that I condone anything anyone else may have proclaimed to be associated with that label.

Feral wrote:

Yes, and if you’ve noticed, I’ve respected that and have never posted in that thread.

I have no desire to preach pantheism, I have merely stated some things about it to compare it with Christianity and why I feel that it is a much more rational picture of God.

I’ve said many times that I would rather be posting in a science forum, but they don’t have one here.

I came to the religion thread because it used to be that a lot of really cool and intelligent people used to post here. Unfortunately I think they got tired of all the recent evangelism and left. We used to have great conversations on here about many differnet belief system. But lately it’s been nothing but arguments about Christianity like as if that’s the only valid religion. I’ve even seen my pantheistic friends being belittled.

But most of them just left rather than argue with the fruitcakes.

I can’t say I blame them and since you and Spider are insistent on constantly making every thread about Christianity I guess there’s really no reason for me to stay either. You won’t be happy until all the non-Christians are either converted or silenced. huh

Answer:
That is exactly what I posted before and what I referred to as a conservationist......not really something I would put in a religion category but hey to each his own.

abra wrote:

Answer: yes and I appreciate that...but then again there is nothing to fight about in there. And honestly abra I would have the same respect if you stated a natural panthiest chat house..

Answer: Well then by golly abra...Im going to get you a science category......You could also post it in General.....when it doesn't have a category....Have you ever asked Michael about it?

That we are not cool and intelligent....well I happen to think I am both.. And you have belittled us plenty so no pity party here.

I will make you a deal....if you don't trash the Bible or Christ or God as being myths.....I will let this be the end of our feud....

I had another hit in my spirit today that kind of fits Kid's note on the Christian adamance.

It's found in Psalms 22, which has an " I'm on the cross someday in the distant future" theme to it. Evo, baby!!! So, the depiction goes that perhaps Jesus was not a man after all but the larvae of something else entirely.... just another of my intractably incoherent observations.

Ps.22:6. But i am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

Even before He came, he inspired David to understand something of His coming, and address it, even though his peers would probably think the Good Humor man should be called to ( as Frank Zappa puts it ) come and take me away, haha, heehee, hoho!!!laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

Point? Christianity is no picnic. Neither are the excesses within and without!!! bigsmile

Hey Feral, yup, I read it. Thank you.

Trinity, huh? This is what gets me in big trouble!!laugh laugh laugh

I see a quadrangle.... and I realize I'm going off topic, but hey, it might get interesting, nonetheless.

Actually, if we consider it part of God's plan, as a Christian would see it, then it's not so off topic really. In Revelations, The man on a White Horse with a new name written, that no man knows....suggests that the 'return of Christ' may be vieled yet again in mystery, until the enemy tips its hand late in the game and exposes itself.

Quadrangle? This would become the Fourth Generation of the Logos of God.....thus effectively rendering moot the teaching of Trinity. Catch my drift?

Evolution, Baby!!! of thought, of understanding, of knowledge.....ever deeper and more complex, yet ever more plain with each subsequent revalation if hidden meaning.

This is part of why I believe that the game has more innings, if we don't vaporize the place beforehand!!!laugh laugh laugh

OOPS!!!flowerforyou  bigsmile

Hi Wouldee,
You know what it's like at the race track. Different people from all over. Different religions, non religions and from all walks of life.
None of this matters when you're out there. There is a common theme and a goal everyone is trying to achieve. If one participant should crash or flip, there will be help from another team in neccessary even though they're competitors. You break a rear end or bend an axle and you don't have one, someone will lend you one.
Why is it that society on the whole can't be like this and we all celebrate our like qualities rather than fight over our differences? drinker
Some might not know what it's like but once you've seen it in action, it's hard to imagine any other way.
