Topic: Not Getting Ignored

As I understand it, you ladies on these dating sites sometimes get scores of emails every day. (All I have is anecdotal evidence of this, so if this turns out to be hyperbole, please forgive me.) The end result is that you don't have time to sift through the chaff and so many emails just get ignored.

What, then, is the secret to NOT getting ignored. I've had a little bit better luck around JSH than I have elsewhere (OKCupid and eHarmony) but considerably more than half of my emails never get a response.

Without posting any specific examples, what sorts of things am I [probably] doing wrong? What sorts of "right" things do you look for in an email that makes you want to respond? Or is it a totally subjective, indescribable feeling you get about an email when you read it?

It's all about what you put in the subject line guys. Read her profile and figure out what kind of girl she is, then think about something to put in the subject line that would interest her and pull her in.

Just keep mailing until you get blocked bigsmile

I just e-mail them once, if they responde great, if they don't I just move on. There is no secret, if she wants to talk to you, she will, if not, just move on.

HMMM wheres the emails?? Haha just kidding!!
I do get some emails, but its from about the same people all the time....I guess I have certain people that we just keep emailing back and forth. I really don't get to much new email from different people.
I guess what I look for is nothing special...if they don't raise any red flags, I answer just about every single email I get!!
What I don't answer is crazy email that is disrespectful to me!! I have got a few that I have not answered but it was mostly from the younger ones on here!! Now I am not saying that all younger guys are disrespectful...it just seems that the younger ones are very bold.
I would say..just be respectful flowerforyou

The problem with that recommendation, Totage, is that I have now run out of ladies to email. I'm either waiting for new women to join the site or for the ones I've already emailed to get back to me.

Oh, "Unsure" says, "Where's the e-mails?"

It is worth noting that I only email local ladies. My goal is getting AWAY from my computer. Starting up length email conversations with women in other states isn't going to help me a lot there.

I understand that you want LOCAL people....but expand your horizons a little. Maybe your "soul mate" is not a local lady!!

Soldier...why do men just send out friends request with out talking to us first?? I always refuse guys that do that!! I have to know you to put you on my list...I just don't understand why people do that!!!

When I am emailed by a man first i read his profile and then i usually respond. however there are cases where i read a guys a profile and realize that we are seeking different results form this site and maybe it will be best that i not waste my time. I have chatted with plenty of guys and even met some in person, so for me I won't reply or respond because of the lack of common interest. such as smoking habits, wanting kids, having kids, age, height, sometimes race is a factor. Just don't want to choose wrong i guess.

i ignore messages that have a lot of words spelled wrong. it just eats away at my soul and i can't formulate a response.

You know what though tongue...I still answer their email. I do it out of respect, I will say something like...I see that you smoke and I am looking for a non-smoker. I hope you find what you are looking for though!!

LOL cb..don't you just want to email people that have misspelled words on their profiles and tell them to fix it!! I know I do!! laugh

I respond to all emails. I feel like if they took the time to look at my profile and email me that I should respond then just go from there. You never know who you might meet.

Soldier...I never said that you sent me a friends request, I simply asked why people do that? You stated that you did send out friends request and always got a responce. I simply asked you a question!!!

If your response rate is anywhere within sight of 50-50, you're doing better than I did. I got a 0% response rate from locals, although people from 897,000 miles away or more were pretty good about replying.

I don't even bother e-mailing anybody here first anymore, though. Simply not worth it. I do get a lot of e-mail here, I just don't initiate any of it.
