God created mankind and the animals on the sixth day... It's not written in the bible that he created the egg first... so chicken first I believe:)

The chicken and the egg were in bed together....
when the egg proceeded to roll off and have a cigarette...
the chicken looked over at the egg and said....
well I guess we answered that question.

what came first... the chicken or the egg...

The egg.
Dinosaurs laid eggs.
Dinosaurs existed before "chickens."

So..."the egg" came before "chickens."

If you believe in GOD, then wait and ask, or accept GOD doesn't want you to know, or accept GOD created them at the same time a chicken to sit on an egg to create more chickens.

why is this such a difficult ? to answer ...

It's not.
It's a question that is not rewarding to spend a lot of time thinking about because it's only relevant when you start bringing in semantics and etymology.

It's a titillating question because it questions assumptions and how different people have different assumptions and perspectives.

I mean you can focus on chicken, or egg, or came.
It's like an early form of scattergories.

Or it can be used for social bonding "which came first, chicken or egg? Your mom would know, she's banging both on the weekends."

Since an egg is, in fact, a chicken, they both came at the same time!

That depends on if you believe in creationism or darwinism. If you believe that god created everything that we have today in it's final form the way it's given in the Hebrew text then the chicken came first. How ever if you believe that everything came into existence through a series of genetic mutations them the egg came first.

Ultimately what it all boils down to is if you believe the book of genesis or not.
