A few days ago I got my annual Flu Shot.

It seems this year it is hitting me a bit harder than most.

Sporatic fever, chills and body aches abound.

I need some babying.

It really sux being alone and ill. Things don't get done and comfort is not received.

Fortunately I know that this will pass.

How do you FEEL and what do you do to feel better alone?

I had my flu shot months ago. No effects this year. Last year I had muscle aches.

Hope you get better soon.

When I'm sick I like to be alone. Best that way as I am grouchy when I hurt.

Right now my hands and knees hurt, but they always hurt. Nothing bad I'm not used to but I'm used to a lot these days.

My flu shot usually gives me no issue but this year it seems I am getting flu symptoms in a strange way. Its like its trying out different symptoma at different times?

I called my Dr this morning and asked about it. He told me I should expect syptoms for about a week to 10 days. Symptoms started two days ago.

I'm not a grouchy sick. I tend to get really quiet when I am sick or angry. Normally I am an energetic, happy person that bubbles with excitement. Frankly, being sick alone scares the crap out of me. If I were to die, noone would find me till the landlord unlocks the door to get their money. Two to three months later. I'm not going to die from a flu shot but it makes me think about what could happen.

Other than constant aches and pains from previous injuries,
I'm generally pretty healthy.
Except the one year I got a flu shot.
It was the H1N1 flu season. I got the shot in November.
Got H1N1 in February.grumble
Was sickest during a two day snowstorm. Power was out, roads blocked.
But the local hospital was closed because there was no doctor.
Thankfully I had veterinary medicine for horses and cattle.

I get a flu shot every year never any side effects...

But if I don't get it I get the worse case of the flu I have ever had..

Even had the Phenomena shot this year one time thing no side effects...

And just had the shingles shot just glad my insurance pays for them all 100% found out the shingles shot cost over $200 to get it..

But myself I'm one that when I'm sick I want everyone to leave me alone and just let me sleep...don't need no help just my meds and something to eat if I want it and I'm good..

I feel great!

I am sorry to hear you are not. I do understand the feeling of being alone and being under the weather - bad combo!

I usually try to get as much rest as possible, and drink lots of water. Hug your pillow, or if you are lucky enough to have a pet - let them make you feel a little bit better?

I hope you feel better soon!

I had 47 years of never really being sick. Since that age my body seems to be saying enough is enough. Arthur has a firm grip on me and things that never really bothered me much are now having an affect on me.
My diet has changed as well. Diabetes plays havoc on different parts of me to differing degrees. Doc says my tests are fine but I have no appetite and nowhere near the energy I once had. Getting old sux! LOL

I was recently diagnosed with COPD. Mild but it causes me to realize that I need to quit smoking so I'm fighting that monster as well. It has a firm grip and refuses to let go.

I have 4 hernias that the VA doesn't think are severe enough to warrant operation. Seems if they are not twisted there is no concern. Well, they hurt, constantly.

The VA doesn't like to prescribe pain killers so if ibuprofen or acetaminophen doesn't work, I gotta suffer thru. Being on fixed income its difficult to justify the Medicare costs. What's the point of living longer if all your money goes to paying off Dr bills?

When this flu shot stabilizes I'll go back to my normal level of discomfort and things will be better.

My son gave me some pot brownies when he came down for a visit over the summer. I ate them and got a buzz but it made everything worse, not better. Seems pot makes me super aware of things. I had no idea how much pain and illness I actually cope with till I ate those brownies. While pot might make some people feel better when ill, it makes me feel worse.

Have you tried Vaping? It's better to quit quit, I know, but I quit smoking 2 years ago by vaping, and I feel a lot better.

I *think* it's going to be easier to give this up than it was the cig! --- but I can't say, since I haven't tried to yet.

All rough stuff, my sympathies. The behavior of the VA, is why I don't care for Democrats, but I REEEEEEEELY DESPISE Republicans. The politicians I mean, not my fellow peasants. They're the ones who short change the VA, and lead the VA to short change the veterans in turn.

Anyway. I stopped getting the flu about ten or fifteen years ago. Never had a shot, I just constantly wash my hands if anyone shakes them, or if I touch stuff that might be "germy." Of course, now that I said that, I'll get double-flu tonight.

It's possible you are suffering a sort of snow-ball effect. Whenever I've been compromised, especially by stress or by exhaustion, I've had more and worse symptoms from whatever ailed me.

Considered it. My son lent me his but I was vaping and smoking, LOL

Dr, gave me some nicoderm patches. Started to use them but found myself still smoking while I was wearing them. I still have most of them left. If I can break the habit of lighting up and holding the cigarette I should be able to use the patches for any nicotine withdraw. I light up without realizing it most of the time.

especially by stress or by exhaustion

Thanx for the sympathy, I'll nuzzle it for a bit. LOL

I really don't have much stress anymore. The nurse commented on how calm I was just the other day when I got the flu shot. All my vitals are well within range and my blood work is also really good. I'm not exhausted because I am not able to be very active anymore. I sleep without a problem tho.

There are two things that could be the reason for this year's shot giving me issues.

One: there is something in my physiology right now that is making me susceptible to the virus. During the last two months or so I have not liked the taste of eggs as much. They started giving me an "aftertaste" that I never had before. Gunna try eating some eggs to see if the symptoms diminish.

Two: This year's strain of the virus is stronger than previous years. Flu is getting worse every year. Vaccines are constantly being vamped to deal with the ever-changing nature of the virus. I recall that last year they were offering a flu shot and a live vaccine mist to everyone. It was recommended that I take the shot because the live vaccine was recommended for younger healthier patients. Being the VA and my first time at this facility they may have given me a live virus vaccine. They did not ask for my choice. She came in, jabbed the needle in and put a band aid on the hole.

It might be possible that I already had a flu and the shot just made it active. I doubt it but I have learned that anything is possible sometimes.

One of the telltales of HIV infection is flu-like symptoms. I get regular screenings for all blood-borne pathogens. I have seen my test results from this most recent test and all pathogens are negative, plus, I have had no contact with HIV infected persons but the VA is bad for infecting patients.

After a short nap today my aces and pains have diminished a little but I still feel like caca. Perhaps it is starting to run its coarse.
I've increased my intake of Vitamin C as well. Perhaps tomorrow things will return to my normal existence.

Thanx for caring...

The symptoms have passed. I am back to feeling 'my normal' again.
