Oh, phD. I didn't know this was something women do. How does it work out for you?

Why don't you just date your phone?

I tried. It just wants to be friends.
But it's so needy, it's always right there, everywhere I go, needs constant attention, touching my but, or vibrating in my front pocket.
I just wish it would make up its mind.
So now we're in more of a sugardaddy/baby relationship. I pay the bills, and get to do all the work of sticking it in while she just lays there.
Seems to recharge her though. Win win.

Do you have any problem with people who use their phones while on a date with you?

Yes. That's why I stop dating them when I notice it's habitual.
...Unless they keep it in their bra.

Do you have a problem with people who have a problem that your phone is basically another appendage?

Yes. That's why I cut off their fingers. Good luck calling the police on your smartphone!

Medical emergencies are an exception. Those are genuine emergencies.

IMO not really.
Why call me and not 911?
What can I do that an emt, a doctor, a fireman, or the police couldn't?
If it's a real emergency, there's nothing I can really do.
If it's a real emergency then either they're calling someone that can do something about it, or I'm a terrible parent leaving incapable children/people alone, so I can date when I shouldn't be.
IMO people make it seem like before the invention of the cell phone the world was just full of dead people slumped over a gore covered home phone having written in their blood "if only I could have reached you!"

ciretom, you are a really cold person. I have to have my phone on because my father or a hospital may need to get in touch with me. I live the closer to my father than all my siblings, so it's up to me to watch out for him. It's really stressful.

actually I detest my phone
now I have one in case my car breaks down
my kiddo knows not to text me unless the house is burning down
I would have it on vibrate and in my purse
If I felt it wiggle or saw my purse jiggle across the table
yes, I would excuse myself to check it quickly
in case it is my son
that would be only reason

Cell phone on a date?

Since I don't do marathon dates I expect phones to be put on message.

A one time parent of special needs children, hospice caregiver, business owner I get people having responsibilities but if I can delegate so I can have a personal life with someone I expect it to be mutual unless it is a serious emergency.

I have more than once told a phone addict " i will let you focus on what is clearly more important and quietly walked out. Rarely does it take more than once but I only turn the other cheek twice and I just don't give that person my time.

"Never make Someone a priority in your life
If you are only an option."

Generally, my phone is off and I expect his to be too. When we both start answering texts during our time together.. I know the romance is over.

They probably would if they could.

That's exactly what I was thinking from the beginning and I'm pretty sure some of them do.

I have my phone with me in case I get a call from work but I never look at it or make calls.

I think it's very ignorant and if a Lady used hers I'd wonder if I was doing something wrong or just not her cup of tea.

Best check it. It could be the one you asked out before the one you're with (the second choice )laugh

I haven't thought of this aspect yet 'cause I haven't dated in the "age of dating".. YET... Being old fashioned, I would think it's disrespectful... especially if he texted me in the middle of the date while sitting across from me to say he's not interested. :) Then again, it could be a GOOD text! Hmmmm.... gotta think about this one!

Well.. in all honesty.. I have two boys at home and I run my own business..
Sooo..hmmm.. busted..lol.. but really if my phone goes off during a date and it's always just a text message.. I excuse myself look at my phone very quickly and if it's not from my boys I put my phone away.... believe me if my boys are texting me ..it's not because they're out of ink..lol... more like someone's bleeding or the house is on fire..lol

Hahahaha, I'm so glad my kids are adults and have left the nest. Don't have to deal with that kind of stress anymore, lol. Been there...

Whenever I'm with him, I tend to forget to take my phone with me when we go out. I can't be bothered. If we need a phone for an emergency, he's got his phone on him. As for the rest, I'm not available. And I hardly ever check my phone when we're in either.

Never did when I was on a date either. I consider it rude, unless you have a real good reason for it, like younger children at home.
I haven't, and I trust my cats won't set fire to the house when I'm gone, lol.

I'm glad he feels the same way. In between he checks to see if there's something important, but hardly ever, and never when we are in conversation or doing something.

Do you have any problem with people who use their phones while on a date with you? Do you have a problem with people who have a problem that your phone is basically another appendage?

Back when I was dating between 2004 and 2011 my phone was turned off any time I was out on a date. I figured the earth would continue spinning without any help from me for a couple of hours.

This actually is one of my pet peeves.
The only time my phone has been set to ring is for work.
When I am out and about it is my purse on vibrate.
