with your dating or relationship? All thing considered, do you put more emphasis on someone's beliefs than in the past?

i wonder if politics is interfering

No.
I would not be with someone who thought only
their opinion was important.
On any matter.

i wonder if politics is interfering...with your dating or relationship?

Of course, to some degree.
It can also support or facilitate my dating or relationships, depending on the person.

All thing considered, do you put more emphasis on someone's beliefs than in the past?

Sort of.
All things considered, I put more emphasis on how beliefs effect behavior that affects me, and how someone communicates their beliefs, more than the beliefs themselves, than in the past.

As long as we have the same moral compass, we can have different politics..

Much less than in the past, for me. Partly because I'm far enough along that more things don't matter than do now, I suppose. Mostly because I don't get upset by as much as I did in my fiery youth.

As with everything, of course, there are limits. On the good side, anyone who's politics are disagreeable enough to make a relationship difficult, are so intense about their beliefs, that it's all over their profile.

common beliefs are important to me, yes, it makes for smoother sailing as I believe beliefs/values are intricately intertwined and I prefer someone with similar values

the past is important as well, but only in the context of a mirror into what they profess to believe and how they actually live/grow/learn

for instance, I am much more impressed by the church colleague who used to be in and out of detention homes and now is a doting father who is actively involved in charities and helping others

than I am with

the billionaire who grew up in upper class environment, went to the best schools and now is wealthy ceo of their own company and writes a check now and then to 'help' some cause

the former has a shady past that they overcame, learned from and were capable of change and improvement

the latter had much better odds from the start and really didn't have to change or overcome much of anything

as far as politics, it is important we are on the same boat there too,,,just because of my personal experiences at this point in my life , most peers are 'passionately' devoted to their politics and I have learned first hand how difficult it is to even communicate maturely with those of different political persuasions let alone have a relationship,,,,I honestly have not talked to a Trump supporter yet that did not regress to name calling and childishness,,,,so that experience makes me say that FOR ME, politics will definitely matter as well

I don't have a ()&^@#$ dating relationship. So, no, politics doesn't enter into it.
