could it come to this?

Section 4. Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.[3]

I do not observe much respect OR love in this case. Towards the president or (perhaps more importantly) from him.

I do not know how it will play out.

There is needed a very strong reason for this to take effect, so unless, is very hard to happen.

People not qualified to make a psychiatric diagnosis may be a concern to others.

However the United States supreme court has ruled that fraud invalidates an election. Thus, if Trump did conspire with Russia to rig the election, the election does not count. Trump can be removed by impeachment but you also may have a new election. Only the supreme court can decide that.

could it come to this?

Sure. But not because a bunch of liberals are unhappy.
There are mechanisms in place to keep the 25th amendment from being "abused" by opponents throwing tantrums.

take 5 minutes to read wikipedia on all 4 of the sections
and the instances in which the 25th amendment has been invoked
since its ratification in 1967 and you will see clearly that
using this amendment under sec 4 against a sitting president is
nothing more than a pipe dream at best.....not gonna happen

speaking strictly politically, since it is a matter of a vote on behavior, I suppose that instability is 'diagnosed' in the same manner as a 'high crime' is.....

although wiki may be partially dependable for certain facts, I will refrain from depending upon it as a fortune teller,,,,

I've heard a few people suggest this, since Trump has been so...non-Presidential in how he has conducted himself. The reason I don't see it being applied(unless Trump suffers a major public emotional breakdown), is the same reason why I'm not seeing much chance of impeachment proceedings: his own party is in charge of the rest of the government.

The main thing Trump keeps screwing up that might make his own party rebel seriously, is national security. Although the GOP does have tremendous double standards, they do still have SOME standards, and if Trump keeps carelessly giving top secret information away to Russia and others as a part of bragging, they may do SOMETHING to try to rein him in. But I can't see them removing him from office, even temporarily.

I can understand this, but also I consider that his 'party' was never really too supportive of him as a leader

his 'tantrums' may come down to his constant Tweets

and his ability to do the job may come down to simply his job performance,,,like any other job

imagine, if you are in a position to hire people and a good portion of those you hire you also fire within a few weeks/months?

or, if you have several of your employees bringing about harassment charges against you?

it may be determined that is not the right position for you to have, or that your 'judgement' doesn't quite meet the bar

the job of President is demanding, things like abuse of power or high turn around, may be indicators of a bad fit,,,,or an inability to understand and perform the job duties,,,

I say MAY BE, because the standards used for determining these things , politically, seem to not be laid out anywhere in detail and up to subjectivity
