Not only is NYC the best city, but NY is the best state if you want culture. The Upstate/New England area is just wonderful to live in and we can hop in a car and road trip to so many fantastic places.

Not only that but I love the cold. There is nothing like a cold night and just holding your gal for a bit of warmth(its just plain honesty and nothing meant otherwise). You cant beat holding/keeping your gal warm on a cold night.

Ha,,,I even lower the temp in my place just to make it extra cozy so we can shimmy together, plus it saves a few bucks on the heating bill. Ha

I think it depends upon what one values.

NYC has a population of 8.5 million people om 304.6 square miles
LA has 3.9 million on 503 square miles
.soo if one enjoys space, LA is better

the average income in NYC is 55 grand with average rent of 3000
the average income in LA is also 55 grand with average rent of 1730
..so if you want affordibility , LA is better

diversity in LA? 48 percent latino, 30 white, 10 asian, 10 black, 1/2 percent native

diversity in NYC? 28 percent latino, 45 white, 12 asian, 25 black, 1/2 percent native

...so it looks as if both are diverse, with NYC having more of a white population than other demographics and with LA having more of a latino population than other demographics..which one is better is entirely dependent upon what one is looking for in 'diversity'

Lived in both.
But I am a California gal so it is LA all the way.

You need only be out of the smog, which can cut your life short.
And live close to where you work.

New York is a state of mind, like a bordertown during Mardi Gras.
If you were raised there, twould seem normal :-)

I visited both, I would not flourish much in either

NY, too jugmental and angry
LA, too boundary less, fake, and not judgmental enough

..of course, both just the GENERAL impression I got overall, not an absolute description of every individual,,,

both are way to expensive to live in, IMO...-example-cigarettes cost $14.00 a pack in NYC...and both are way to liberal for my tastes anyway...so neither

I would choose NY. I live in Toronto and I love our four seasons. LA doesn't have that. If there is no winter, how could you appreciate spring?

No offense but I lived in Toronto for a summer. That town was about dead as can be. I was bored off my rocker. If i remember correctly Alexander/Church St area had ok night life that was casual. some of the food was not that bad.

Theres an Italian joint if you get off the QEW and take Yonge St. all the way down out of the business district. I think it had the best Chicken Parm in town. Maybe its still there. The walls are all busted and broken(on purpose to give it an old feel). Great atmosphere.

There is a little Italian joint in Niagra Falls. Go to the top of The Hill after all that tourist crap and cross the tracks if I remember. Its been a while, make a left and go about 10 miles. Its on the right. All the women and men dress like Romans. Its a goofy place, bu they have great stuffed mushroom.

I always remember the good small joints to eat when I travel. I can tell you where to get a great steak in Vegas, or the best BBQ in Savannah. I never eat out home. I cook. We only eat out when we are on vacation and I dont eat no Applebees or whatever those places are. Its all junk food joints. I only know the best place to get fresh tripe, or where to go for the best pizza.
