Ali Kadri, spokesman for the Islamic Council of Queensland and the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils, said his community was stuck with the choice of offending allies or siding with critics, and the result had been silence.

“Unfortunately, in the current climate, the right and conservative side has attacked Muslims as terrorists and extremists, and naturally the left side has been allies in defending us for a long period of time,” he said.

“We are afraid if we come out with our opinion then the left may abandon us for going against their view and we can’t be friendly with the conservatives because they have been bashing us for 15, 20 years every chance they get … and that includes some Christian sects as well.”

The marriage thing will always be shunned with them but it's definitely practiced, can't say where and how I know but as with most of them, what is preached isn't what is practiced?

they throw gays off of buildings...so there's not many left...

I do not notice a 'muslim voice' anywhere in mainstream news or media or print,,,,so I would love some examples of this 'everywhere' they are supposed to be publicly taking a stand and the 'everything else' they take a stand on....

there's a lot of things the left doesn't notice...

theres alot of things the 'right' complains about with no evidence and no way of explaining themselves,,,,

lol.. lefties don't listen anyway...they just change the subject and demand examples...

Examples (uk at least )
Constantly complaining about there rights.
Always complaining about our laws.
Every day somewhere when they detonate a bomb.
The Muslim council is paranoid about our authorities.
Very occasionally they will break off and speak against terrorists.

that is not the case here, the only thing we see of muslims is people bashing them or fearmongering about them

they are a quiet population that minds their own business mostly


I also think it is a different thing to argue for ones OWN rights and equal treatment within the government/laws than it is to 'speak up' about what others choose to do in their personal lives...
