Hurricane Irma just reached category 5 status. It doesn't look good for the Islands or Florida, including the Florida Keys.

Looking like you might have to evaluate?

Yes, I will be leaving with my sister either tonight or tomorrow. I called my work place because I'm supposed to work on Thursday through the weekend and even they said to go. They are preparing for the storm and for evacuation of all the crew members as well.

Category 4 has catastrophic effects on the Keys, a Category 5 hurricane can wipe us out if we get a direct hit.

Just saw the path. 175mph winds.

Yes, not much stands a chance with a direct hit. Back in 1960, hurricane Donna wiped out most of the Keys and was a category 4 hurricane!

I feel bad for those living on the Islands, they have no where to go.

It's still too early to know the direct path. So far it looks like and they are anticipating it stopping North of Cuba and then heading North. Possibly straight up through Florida.

Florida is currently has been declared a state of emergency as well as all the Islands between Florida and Irma.

Thanks immavis, I plan on it.

I feel blessed that I have some where to go, unfortunately the ones living on the Islands don't. I pray for their survival.

After all the effects from Harvey I would get out as fast as possible go inland as far as you can get... Grab all your important stuff...

If it is worse then Harvey it is not going to be pretty...

Yes, they're already telling visitors they have to leave. The way it looks is that it's going to take it's pit stop right on top of the Keys before deciding to go East or West.

I don't have the heart to leave the kittens to fend for themselves, they are only 9 weeks old and aren't used to the outdoors. My sister said to take just one, so I told her to go in my room and choose for me which one gets to live. I'll be taking all three.

I feel grateful that we at least get a chance to prepare and pack. But sick to my stomach because there's such a high possibility of coming back to nothing. Only so much can fit into one pickup truck for two people.
