I stopped into walmart to pick up a few things and as I was leaving there was a commotion in the parking lot so naturally I looked to see what was going on.

Here is 4 big burly cops arresting a 30 something woman. There were 3 cruisers boxing her car in and the cops were out of breath.

I continued to my truck and noticed nearly everyone in the parking lot gawking and talking.

Come to find out she was shoplifting.
SHOPLIFTING...at Walmart?

I thought by now everyone knows there are cameras?

I wonder why the big burly cops were so out of breath and flustered?

On the way home I was watching the skies for NEWS helicopters and looking for a SWAT van.

Yeah, I'm wondering which crime requires a single officer now?
With all the hype and commotion I'm surprised the woman wasn't shot.

I'll bet Facebook and twitter exploded tho.
Nearly everyone in the parking lot had their phones out.

I mean, shoplifting at Walmart is major news and I'm sure everyone has an opinion that must be socially made known.

Hell, I'm not social at all and I posted about it.

With things going on these days, the police are looking to protect themselves rather than looking out for the common, everyday citizen that may need help from an officer.

That may seem like a lot of cops for one shoplifter but as cat said, police need to look out for themselves in the wacky environment of today. I personally wouldn't go one-on-one with a scrub stealing from anywhere. Especially some of the people you see in wal mart. A box of Twinkies is not worth a gunfight.

LOL, I seen it as insanity.

Insane to think that in today's day and age you might get away with stealing from any major store.

Insane that so many police are needed to arrest a woman in a crowded parking lot with nowhere to run.

Insane that people have such a need for NEWS that they stop what they are doing to record and comment on anything.

Insane that I think that posting it online would be interesting to people that never witnessed anything themselves.

The world is insane. The fact that I posted it means I am too.
What have we become?

Not much info to go on. Did someone call 911 and say she had a gun or did the shoplifter say she had a gun? Did she get violent when employees tried to stop her? There just isn't enough info for me

I still respect police officers and the majority are looking out for average citizens.

Well you never know when a shoplifter will be carrying an axe and use it against you. Walmart had a policy for awhile where they wouldn't prosecute shoplifting under $20 because it cost more to go after them and the cops were getting tired of wasting all their time at Walmart. Some people will steal no matter what, often times the employees are the most likely to steal. Its freeloaders with no respect for others, and Walmart does a pretty good job of attracting them, but shoplifting is a big problem at every retailer from your mom n pop shops to high end retailers, and there is no way to catch them every time.

I caught the action on the way out of the store, in the side parking lot. At the time I was more awe-struck with the audience than the incident. Perhaps I should have went and stopped an officer to ask him for the details of the incident so I could relate those details accurately. Something tells me it will happen again, somewhere.
