We have the World's Leading Countries (1st World Countries)
We have 3rd World Countries.

Which are the 2nd world countries and why?
How come nobody talks about them?
There is never any references to 2nd World Countries.
Argentina, Canada, just about all the northern European little countries, and most of Asia...

surprised huh

lol..my version... none of those countries really do anything for the rest of the world, like we do...

"tractor pull competitions"

I grew up in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
I've been to many Crawford county fairs
and many more tractor and truck pulls.
I also have went to mud bogs and competition rock climbs.

I am a lifetime mechanic and I love the sound of a perfectly tuned dual or set of trips winding up for a display of power.

To me it beat the crap out of sitting on a couch and watching men play with balls. In all fairness to balls tho, I do love watching women play volleyball on the beaches. Such a wonderful "game".

Thanx Johnn111 for such a wonderful, intelligent and compassionate addition to this topic. I welcome the validation you offer.

Oh Tom, don't you know I'm a equal opportunity offender by now?

It would equate to someone making fun of a Canadian slapping on a pair of skates and spending the day on the ice, like, who does that other than Canadians???

Let me add a well thought out reply to your thread, and I think you know why there're no 2nd world countries.

The have and have nots applies to countries, not just individuals bud

slapping on a pair of skates and spending the day on the ice

LOL, Funny you should write that.
I grew up as almost a fixture at the local ice skating rink in the winter. And, Boy can I skate. Not too shabby with rollers either.

Just because something is that way doesn't mean it always has to be that way.

Some will argue that we must learn to embrace the darkness.
I prefer to just turn on the light. Not to say I am afraid of the dark but why not use the technology if its there?

a 3rd world country would NOT relate to what you are saying here, luxury items like skates? electricity?
We are fortunate Tom, very very fortunate. I've witnessed youth playing soccer with tied up rags and time outs when the ball of cloth fell apart.... quite recently.

The curious thing is, they don't consider themselves 3rd world because they don't know any better and we don't don't consider ourselves 1st world because we haven't lived any worse.drinker

Exactly a point I made previously that it doesn't HAVE to be this way.

like snowmobile pulls...

Ive raced snowmobiles before. Both drag and xc. I've been to sled climbs but have never competed.

I remember a few years ago reading about the $100 laptop project. It was a 1st world effort to help bring technology to 3rd world students. The idea hinged on giving technology to everyone to allow an increase in new ideas which would result in new innovation.
I'm not even sure if the program still exists but at the time I thought it was a very intelligent stance.
A lot of the inventive innovations are done in 1st world countries.
Mainly because the 1st worlders have access to the technology needed to support new ideas. If that is the defining factor, the entire world gets access to technology and is supported to develop invention the world will benefit from.

The more you have working on a problem the quicker and better the solutions become.

Pooling resources benefits all. Hoarding or isolating resources benefits few.

I can't help but think that the world is only part of what it could be. The world is a direct reflection of few against a potential of many.

Unity and Freedom drives innovation. The USA is only around 250 years old. 300 years ago most of the world was comprised of kingdoms and rulers. It was the 3rd world United States that instituted change. Look at the kingdoms today compared with 300 years ago. Those kingdoms were stagnated with little innovation compared with the recent 250 years.

How did the US rise to become a world leader in merely 250 years when other kingdoms were struggling with it for thousands of years.
Is it because US citizens are smarter?
NO

Its because we (the US) allowed, embraced and supported individuals and gave them the technology and opportunity to invent. We stood in unity as a nation and reaped the benefit of our people for all our people.
We found better ways to do things because we were allowed to think that way.

As we developed better things in life our children were afforded better food, better education and better support for ideas. We skyrocketed past our kingdoms in technology. We started to share our new thinking with others and the entire 1st world advanced.

All I'm saying is that the 3rd world holds potential for the same type of rise. When it does happen, the entire world will rise with it.

In this present line of thought I have concluded that 2nd world is countries that are advanced but get their technology by copying or forcing innovation based on 1st world technology. They have very few new ideas and merely copy the going trends.

3rd world is still in regression due to the "kingdom effect" of rulers that refuse to support new ideas in favor of personal gain. They interpret their personal wealth as a success, never able to see the bigger picture.
