Can never seem to get in touch with any one, are the sites for real?

As real as any virtuality in cyberspace.

I'm not sure you can drive to the Mingle2 building and park, then go in the building and meet the people listed in the profiles.

The fact that the URL has a working page which your browser can successfully resolve indicates it is a real (and active) website.

The fact that it requires a device with the right technology to do so indicates it is not a dream or imagination.

I don't think any site

If you can direct your browser to the URL and it resolves a working page the site exists. Websites are virtual. They exist in cyber space on an infranet or internet.
Some sites are representations of actual brick and morter.
Other sites represent only a virtual setting.

There are real people using this site.
The fact that you can post this comment indicates that you are real.
Even the scammers are real, unless they are a bot, initiated and controlled by real people.

Scammers exist in the real physical world as well.
Its your task to determine who is real and who is scamming you and choose the appropriate actions to realize your goal.

Probably, in which case it's not really "dating". I personally think "dating" is a thing of the past, and I think the only way a site like this can really work in either way would be if it's targeted to a specific area, or city.

I personally think if you are married you should not be dating

As you should be.
Its called wisdom and wisdom can protect you.

it's not really "dating". I personally think "dating" is a thing of the past, and I think the only way a site like this can really work in either way would be if it's targeted to a specific area, or city.

Dating websites are meant to be merely tools. Tools to help you locate others that fit your needs or desires. It doesn't replace dating in real life and can't.

It replaces the stroll down the street looking for people to talk to. How many conversation have you had with a mannequin? Do you enter into a relationship with a television?

Dating sites are a way for you to find someone that might be worth getting to know better. It requires screening before commitment, just like in real life. Thing that a lot of people forget is that the screening is a two-way thing.

Having read many dating site community forums, it's my understanding that not many people have a true grasp on themselves or what they really want. They are not tolerant and understanding of others diversity and expect everyone else to fall into their sense of order.
But everyone is unique and have their own motivations.
The trick is to use these tools to find someone who has similar uniqueness then act on it with a real life meeting to see if it takes.

Its hard to get to that real-life stage because people have been scammed and burnt by others and are hesitant.

Use these sites as they are meant, as tools to finding POTENTIAL matches.

A fine example of someone setting conditions on someone else's motives.
I personally think a lot of things about a lot of people but I don't live behind their eyes so what I think, doesn't really matter.
I have my own life to live and have no desire to control someone else's.
To Each Their Own

Not for you it seems, but maybe the wife
