It was my birthday in October 2012. One week before I made it known to some friends and to my gospel choir. I made a surprise party. I just wanted to know who comes. A big pot with my favorite soup and everything else was prepared. Furnitures were arranged.

Two ladies from the alto section came. Three days long I was eating my favorite soup. Well, I wanted to be surprised, but not in that way. That has been my last attempt for making friends.

God had a different plan!!!
I was feeling lonely. Our choir leader Latonius J. Earl advised me to join into a dating site, just for talking with people. Now, exactly 6 years later I no longer feel lonely. By Mingle2 God has given me the best husband, the first true love in my life! And God started with me the ministry "Online mom and sons", which has now more than 100 sons from Africa, Asia and elsewhere.

God knows best!
Rev. Vera

This actually happens to me quite frequently.
Most recently was last Halloween.
I bought two bags of candy for the Trick or Treaters and not one showed up.
None even showed up at any of my neighbors because I later tried to give it to them and they had their own unused supplies.
I threw most of it away.

When I was first single again I tried throwing a family get together for my children and their families. Not one showed up. They did, however, show up on Wednesday instead of the prior Saturday. Luckily I still had most of the stuff I bought for the event. Lets not talk about the snafu over the scheduling.

I've held dinner parties where nobody showed up. Cooked some fabulous meals that went to waste. That was before, when I still had an appetite and could eat the same leftovers for days.

When I accepted a position as manager at a new shop, in a different town in a different state I gave a meet and greet get together. Bought 6 cases of beer, a bunch of wine coolers, 6 huge sandwich rings made to order and tubs of potato and macaroni salads. a bunch of hamburgers and hot dogs and all the fixins, plus 8 cases of soda pop.
Everyone showed up, it was a sucess but, when it was over I still had 4 cases of beer (all popular brands). All the food and soda were gone. Most of the wine coolers were gone but the beer was hardly touched.
At the last shop I managed all the beer would have been gone and we would have been making beer runs. I couldn't even give the beer away. Nobody wanted to drink? They preferred weed instead. The ladies drank up the wine coolers tho.

I'm giving a dinner party for my son's family tomorrow. Aside from the meat in the slow cooker, I won't prepare anything till they get here.
I have it all bought tho. With a family, anything can happen.

I have learned to expect that plans can fail. The dinner party tomorrow is not about the food for me. Its about spending time with my son and his family. That is what I'm looking forward to. If they can't make it, I will understand but I will be dissappointed. But hey, I'll get over it.

what are you supposed to do with 18 green frosted cupcakes?

I know what you’re thinking, and I didn’t eat all six...I gave four to the neighbors kids on their way to parade. laugh

What have you been stuck with when plans fall apart?

I was trying to think of something and couldn't until just now.

I baked all Christmas goodies for the big family Christmas get together one year when my sons were little. My ex mother-in-law preferred store bought stuff, so shelved my goodies and brought out all the packaged goodies.

I had a ton of bake goods to bring home with me... had to give some away to keep my boys from going through the roof from a sugar high.

Yes they are, I can't wait to have my own kitchen again. That's one down fall of doing seasonal work, I don't have a kitchen.

After that Christmas, I still spent time baking, just didn't take it to the family gathering. I gave bake goods away for gifts.

I’ve had that happen with Halloween Candy too. I’m still trying to get rid of last falls bags. Haha!

When I have a party, I always overdo it and end up eating leftovers and sending tons of food home with guests even when everyone and their cousins show up. laugh

I don’t know what I would do without a kitchen. I live in my kitchen. Haha! Sit on the living room couch? What a crazy thought! laugh

Yeah, I love my kitchen too!

I think I'm addicted to gadgets, lol.
One thing is for sure, I'm certainly equipped to open a restaurant.
Hell, I have THREE crock pots!

Motown and Toody, I could never get away with this. Grandmas and Aunties have to bring treats. I think it’s in the job description. laugh

what are you supposed to do with 18 green frosted cupcakes?

Eat them, freeze them, take them into work.

What have you been stuck with when plans fall apart?

Time to kill.
