"To be a good judge and a good umpire, it’s important to have the proper demeanor. Really important, I think. To walk in the others’ shoes, whether it be the other litigants, the litigants in the case, the other judges. To understand them. To keep our emotions in check. To be calm amidst the storm. On the bench, to put it in the vernacular, don’t be a jerk. I think that’s important. To be a good umpire and a good judge, don’t be a jerk."

Kavanaugh also said judges should “demonstrate civility” in their opinions — and guard against creeping arrogance:

"There’s a danger of arrogance, as for umpires, for referees, but also for judges. And I would say that danger grows the more time you’re on the bench. As one of my colleagues puts it, you become more like yourself —and that can be a problem."

The speech also included the infamous line: “Whatever happens at Georgetown Prep stays at Georgetown Prep,” the private boys’ high school he attended at the time of the alleged assault in 1982.

It’s one thing to demonstrate civility while working as a judge and he has proven that over and over again while being a judge. I’d be willing to bet no one on this site knew of him before his nomination to the SCOTUS. Don’t you think if he was not a model judge that would have come out during his nomination hearings and in this hearing on sexual misconduct accusations?
I think civility can go out the window when when your name, reputation, and family are being drug through the mud because of accusations that can’t be proven true.

Of course it does. Since the FBI has said nothing new was found, McConnell has just filed for closure. Now it goes to the floor, and voting could happen Friday or Saturday.

The dems have shown their true colors on this, and they came out stinking like what they shovel.

Isnt that the case with a good deal of defendants in a court? Is there an example a SUPREME judge can set for proper behavior when answering questions under penalty of perjury, reputation and mud slinging aside?

The judges behavior didnt leave him smelling like a rose either. But that blind party loyalty will explain it away or overlook it.

Its funny. and I dont have a crystal ball. But I cant imagine the scrutiny a female nominee would have received about her temperament and demeanor had she carried on the same.

crazy world.

Actually, I knew who he was when he was Counsel to President Bush and thought he was a fine attorney at the time. He was very professional.

They said the vote would happen tomorrow at noon once every Senator need a chance to see the FBI report and because of all the Democrats bull$hit only one copy is available and you have to go into a SKIF in the Capitol building and it is read to them in groups.

If I were called a rapist in front of the world and my wife and daughters I would fight like hell also. The man was not fighting to be on the Supreme Court at that point, he was fighting to clear his good name that he fought like hell to keep clean for years! I would lose my cool too but you know what? He manned up and apologized.

I didn't see you calling Ginsberg out when she came out unethically and unprofessionally bashing Trump during the campaign. Oh, that's right shes a Democrat so she gets a pass. Talk about blind party loyalty.

Thats just it. She didnt call him a rapist. She said a drunken K pushed her in a room and onto a bed and covered her mouth. He didnt RAPE her. HE might have just thought he was joking and being an 'obnoxious drunk'. The way to 'fight' is not when being questioned under penalty of perjury. it is to simply answer the questions directly and truthfully and let the truth speak for itself. It is Not YOU or me in that chair, the title says SUPREME meaning SUPERIOR TO OTHERS.

He didnt behave like a superior anything. Yes, he has apologized. I guess that means something. Lets hope he doesnt have to apologize too often for bad behavior once he sits on SCOTUS. I dontk know what you are referencing with Ginsberg. Was she also subject to questioning under penalty of perjury at some point? How did she conduct herself?

hhhmmmm, that could be, but more than Likly she fabricated this lie at the bequest of desperate democrats. Just one of many underhanded sleezeball tactics that these simple minded democrats promote every couple of years.

doesnt seem likely with someone with her record, her intelligence, her career would risk a fraudulent claim on this scale. Even less likely that Democrats randomly found a woman back in 2013 to talk her into going to couples counseling and creating a false narrative.

As said many times, THERE was just NOTHING for her to gain. She clearly wasnt after fame being she sold the story to no one and requested confidentiality when she sent the letter.
